🇵🇹 Sanctuary of the Christ of King ✝️
The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a Catholic monument and shrine located in Almada, the southern bank of Tagus River in Lisbon. The Catholic statue was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The monument was built after World War II and inaugurated in 1959.
This is probably the best place in Lisbon which offers stunning views of the 25 April Bridge which connects the city of Lisbon and Almada. The entrance ticket costs 8€ and allows you to take the lift to the top floor. From there you still have to climb a few flights of stairs to reach the observation deck where the statue of Jesus Christ is built. The viewpoint at the bottom of the monument also offers great views and walking on the ground surrounding the monument is completely free.

Conveniently located in the heart of Brisbane and near popular tourist attractions plus local farmers’ markets, this accommodation is perfect for solo travellers looking for a little more space and modern comforts. Emerald waters at this beach
✔️ Maya Bay
📍 Phuket, Thailand
Maya Bay is an amazing beach on one of the many islands just off the coast of Phuket! This is a very popular tourist spot so it can get quite crowded later in the day. We easily booked ourselves a tour that came with a specialized local tour guide to bring us around the area.
You will be amazed at how clear and green the waters are here. I have never seen anything to beautiful like that before. If you wait and watch closely, you can even see baby sharks swimming in the shallow beach waters! A must-visit if you’re in Phuket.

Comfortable 4-star hotel stay
✔️ Subway Pyramid Hotel
📍 Persiaran Lagoon, Bandar Sunway, 47500 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
This 4-star hotel was surprisingly pretty well-maintained and had rather charming spaces to relax in! Conveniently located near the Sunway Lagoon theme park attraction and Pyramid shopping mall, I find it to be a more affordable option than the other hotels in this area. They even have a cosy linkway cafe for guests to grab a fresh cup of coffee or tea! The only thing is that the design of the rooms can be quite dated but other than that, it is sufficient for a short getaway here.

Grand Sentosa villa staycation
✔️ Capella Hotel Singapore
📍 1 The Knolls, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098297
Nestled among lush greenery and nature trails on the island of Sentosa, Capella Hotel is a luxurious 5-star accommodation that has huge villas you can stay in! Staff will drive you to your villa in a buggy for your convenience as the villas are located a further distance away from the reception area.
Inside the villa, you will find a massive living area and a separate bed and bathroom. But the best part is having your very own private dipping pool to enjoy! We also dined at the in-house restaurant called Cassia, fantastic dishes there. A great stay overall!

A Desaru beach outing
✔️ Desaru Beach
📍 81600 Bandar Penawar, Johor, Malaysia
Head down to the sandy beaches of Desaru for a cool swim or a refreshing time out in nature. The stretch of beach is actually quite long so it doesn’t feel crowded at all, just venture further down to find a quiet spot. Many resorts are located nearby so it is very convenient to get to!
Try not to visit during the monsoon season of November to January, where the weather is mostly rainy. But if you are there, do look out for tiny white crabs scuttling about in the sand, very cute!

✔️ Mercure Tokyu Stay Osaka Namba
📍 2 Chome-2-4, Nishishinsaibashi, Chuo Ward, Osaka 542-0086, Japan
Newly opened hotel in the Namba district of Osaka, very modern and classy ambience. It is not a very big hotel but is sufficient as a base to explore the Osaka area. There is also a famous chocolatier dessert shop in the hotel itself, where you can buy amazing craft dessert creations. We tried the cocoa chocolate puff, absolutely delightful!

🇰🇷 Hanbok experience in Gyeongbokgung Palace
Gyeongbokgung Palace (景福宫) is the largest palace out of the five palaces in Seoul. It was constructed at the end of 14th century during the Joseon period. Over the next few hundreds years, the palace was destroyed, abandoned and reconstructed before being torn down during the Japanese occupation. Since 1990, an effort to restore the palace to its former glory has been ongoing.
The palace is a short walk away from Gyeongbokgung subway station Exit 5. We rented Hanbok (Korean traditional costume) at one of the many rental shops nearby before we entered the palace. The rental included basic hairstyling and additional accessories were available at extra cost. The admission to the palace is 3000 won but we got free admission since we were dressed in Hanbok. Therefore it is not surprising to see many visitors walking around the palace dressed in Hanbok. It was a fun and memorable experience for us taking pictures at different parts of the palace.
The palace is closed on Tuesdays. There are a few free guided tours in foreign languages available on certain days of the week.

Daimonji nature trail
✔️ Mount Daimonji
📍 Sakyo Ward, Kyoto 606-8442, Shishigatani Daikokudanicho, Japan
Famous for the gigantic Mandarin word “da” or “big” carved into its mountain side, this scenic attraction in Kyoto is a peaceful place to take a stroll. The paths are mostly gentle except for some brief steep slopes but still suitable for beginner hikers.
At the base of the mountain, you will find a quaint street lined with shops selling all sorts of food, drinks, souvenirs and ice cream too. Be sure to bring sufficient water up the mountain as there were no water points when we visited.

Have you heard of dim sum omakase!
✔️ Peony Jade Chinese Restaurant
📍 AMARA Hotel, 165 Tanjong Pagar Road, Level 2, Singapore 088539
Nestled on the second level of AMARA Hotel in town, this Michelin restaurant came up with a very unique idea of having dim sum in an omakase style! We were served three bite-sized creations for each “season” of spring, summer, autumn and winter. They looked and tasted amazing!
That’s not all the food you’re getting though, as there is also a free-flow buffet of items you can order. We ordered dishes like cereal prawns, coffee pork ribs and even dessert bowls! The ambience was also pleasant and the environment was nicely decorated. Will definitely be back again.

Situated on the ground floor of Hard Rock Hotel, this cosy cafe exudes a relaxing and inviting atmosphere to chill at. On the menu, they have sandwiches, pastries, cakes and coffee available for guests to either enjoy there or take away to their rooms.
I love the decor that incorporates cool music icons like the Beatles and guitar displays at the counter. You can also find a mini-mart area at the front of the cafe selling all sorts of treats, like cup noodles, potato chips and even ice cream!

Delicious dim sum in KL
✔️ Dolly Dim Sum Restaurant
📍 LG. 43, NU Sentral Shopping Mall, No. 201 Jalan Tun Sambathan, 50470, Kuala Lumpur
Looking for a restaurant that sells delicious authentic Hong Kong dim sum? I would recommend Dolly Dim Sum as the food here is super legit and good! I wasn’t expecting this quality and taste but I was truly blown away.
We ordered a few items such as the siew mai dumpling, chicken congee, custard buns and golden fish crackers. The crackers are a must-try, flavourful and crispy piping hot!
In addition, the interiors are beautifully designed to resemble a classy cha chaan teng with oriental motifs all around. The ambience was relaxing and comfortable, great place for a meal!

🇰🇷 A Walk along Seoul City Wall
If you enjoy city walking like me, you should not miss Seoul City Wall Trail when you're in Seoul. The Fortress Wall of Seoul, also known as Hanyangdoseong, was built in 14th century during the Joseon period to safeguard the boundaries of the capital city. Hanyangdoseong has four major and four small gates which are important historical landmarks in Korea.
I started my walk from Dongdaemun subway station exit 1, from which I could see the Heunginjimun Gate on the opposite side of the road. Then it was a steep hike from Heunginjimun Park along the city wall, passing by Ihwa Mural Village before reaching Naksan Park. Naksan Park offers panoramic views of downtown Seoul especially during sunset and evening. From Naksan Park, the walk came to an end with a steep descent via the trail towards Hyehwamun Gate near to Hansung University Station.

🇰🇷 Hallasan National Park Jeju Island
Hallasan is the highest mountain in South Korea, located on Jeju Island. There are a few stunning hiking trails to explore this beautiful volcanic mountain. We chose Yeongsil Trail which is of moderate difficulty level and does not require a permit. The trail leads hikers through lush forests and offers spectacular views of the island and beyond. However it does not lead to the summit and also the crater lake. It was challenging enough for us who did not have proper hiking gears but thankfully we managed to complete the trail in 5.5 hours. Next time I shall challenge the Eorimok Trail which leads to the crater of Hallasan.

🇸🇬 Wonderful stay @ ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove
We had a wonderful stay in ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, a waterfront lifestyle destination offering world-class marina facilities. Nestled in an elegant waterfront on the coast of Sentosa Island, ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove is a prestigious private marina and yacht club which also offers luxury accommodation in the 26 elegant rooms in the clubhouse. We stayed in the spacious hill view room which has two single beds and a sofa bed. We especially love the huge decadent bathtub with an overhead sunroof. The children enjoyed swimming in the infinity pool and playing arcade games in the arcade room. You can also have a workout in the well-equipped fitness centre next to the pool. The hotel stay included breakfast buffet in Latitude Bistro. The family friendly hotel welcomes children under 12 to stay free in the room using existing bedding.

Alfresco Maldivian dining
✔️ Latitude 5.5 Restaurant
📍 Movenpick Resort Kuredhivaru Maldives, Kuredhivaru Island, 20076, Maldives
On the island resort of Movenpick, this restaurant with stunning interiors is open every day for lunch and dinner! Built like a traditional wood house but with the use of luxurious materials and furnishing, this restaurant exudes a laid-back and breezy ambience.
The menu is a combination of local cuisine and western favourites. We ordered the Maldivian tuna salad, mushroom soup, steak and local fish. Then we finished it off with a chocolate pudding and cheesecake. The steak and cheesecake were much better than the fish and chocolate pudding though!

Underground street of food trucks
✔️ REXKL Arts & Culture Hub
📍 80 Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur City Centre
Located in the basement of REXKL Arts & Culture Hub, this open-air spot is home to many food trucks selling yummy fare! These range across a variety of cuisines such as Chinese, western and Malaysian. The atmosphere has a very grunge and hipster feel, with graffiti and neon lights decorating the space.
We ordered the local fried noodles, a beef burger and some artisanal cakes. All of them tasted really delicious and was filling! The only drawback is that the prices here are much higher than the other eateries.

If you’re planning on visiting Chillva Night Market in Phuket Town, be sure to check out this amazing boat noodles shop located further inside at a corner! It is cutely designed to feel like you’re dining inside a shopping container and the ambience is very rustic.
We ordered the chicken noodle soup and it came with a sizeable drumstick. The meat was so tender and flavourful. Plus the broth was rich and thick with stock, super delicious. They also sell seafood items at very affordable prices too, most value meal at the market!

✔️ Turmeric Restaurant
📍 Anantara Resort & Villas, Persiaran Pantai, Desaru Coast, 81930 Bandar Penawar, Johor, Malaysia
This amazing buffet restaurant is designed with traditional dark wood and accented with modern pops of colour in luxurious heritage style. Also, the food variety is so wide that we had trouble deciding what to eat! I would certainly recommend the freshly prepared daily special eggs by the chef, which change every day.
I also really liked the noodles and having so many fruit juices to choose from. Halfway through, I spotted a super cute kitten that was playfully fiddling with a cupboard corner haha. Very nice place to dine at!

Poolside dining at a beach club
✔️ Soho Pool Club
📍 23 Boat Lagoon, Thep Krasattri Road, Ko Kaeo, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket 83000, Thailand
A great way to spend the afternoon is coming to this beach club to eat, swim and chill! The menu consists of mostly local authentic Thai food, but there are some western favourites like sausages and eggs as well. I love the breezy ambience here as it is located right next to the marina lagoon, so you can watch the boats come in and out to the sea.
Bring along your swimming gear as you can take a dip or just relax on one of the deck loungers beside the pool. It wasn’t too crowded when we visited as it’s a nice hidden gem that not many have heard of!

This Spanish restaurant is a romantic spot to bring a date to because it is located at the top of a scenic hill and the ambience is very classy. They have a wide tapas menu if you want to experience the authentic Spanish style of dining, but they also have regular mains as well.
We ordered their famous pork dish to share, wow it was juicy and succulent, and an omelette pie tapas. Prices are a little more expensive but worth the splurge once in a while!

🇵🇹 The iconic Clérigos Tower @ Porto
The Torre dos Clérigos, also known as the Clérigos Tower, is an iconic landmark located in the heart of Porto, Portugal. Standing at 76 meters, the tower is a prominent feature of Porto's skyline. It was designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni and built between 1732 and 1750. The tower is part of the larger complex that includes the Clérigos Church, a magnificent Baroque church, and a museum.
If you're physically fit, you should definitely climb the tower to enjoy panoramic views of the city and the Douro River. You will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Porto and the surrounding areas after climbing the tower's narrow staircase to reach the top.

Streets of Dotonbori Osaka
✔️ Dotonbori
📍 1 Chome Dotonbori, Chuo Ward, Osaka 542-0071, Japan
Japan is deemed one of the safest countries for solo travellers and the best part is there are so many cool streets to explore here! A famous area to soak in the bustling vibes is at Dotonbori, where the iconic Glico running man is. But head further into the smaller streets and you will find a ton of small restaurants and eateries. Some even sell grab-and-go sushi and matcha lattes.
There are also a number of buskers, hawkers and musicians all across the area, adding life to the atmosphere here. If you do visit this place, I recommend checking out Panshirou, a boutique bakery that sells extremely soft and fluffy bread made from Hokkaido milk!

Beautiful scenery at Hualien
✔️ Taroko Gorge
📍 Taroko National Park, 291 Fushi Village, Xiulin Township, Hualien, County 972003, Taiwan
Located in the district of Hualien, this is a popular hiking trail that tourists visit. To get here, simply take a train from Taipei main station or a bus from Taipei bus station, then stop at Hualien county.
We hired a guide to bring us up the Zhuilu Old Road trail, which is for the much more adventurous and daring hikers. It involves crossing a super long suspension bridge over the gorge and hiking along a tiny path carved into the side of the mountain, exciting!

✔️ The Outpost Hotel Sentosa
📍 10 Artillery Avenue, Sentosa Island, Singapore 099951
This gorgeous hotel by the beach is an adults-only accommodation where guests need to be 16 years old and above to stay. Rooms are monochromatically themed and designed in a minimalistic fashion, very comfortable. However, we did find a stain on the blanket cover.
At check-in, guests usually get a welcome drink, which is nice and refreshing. You also get to choose your mini-bar items. I highly recommend that you check out the pool, especially at sunset!

🇸🇬 Fort Siloso @ Sentosa Island
Do you know that Fort Siloso in Sentosa Island is one of the latest additions to national monuments of Singapore? It was gazetted a National Monument on 15 February 2022.
Fort Siloso has a rich history dating back to the late 19th century when it was built in the 1880s as part of the British colonial defense strategy for Singapore. During World War II, Fort Siloso played a crucial role in the defense of Singapore against Japanese forces. It remained in use by the British military until Singapore gained independence in 1965.
The most convenient way to reach there is by taking shuttle bus A and alight at Siloso Point. We first took the lift up to Fort Siloso Skywalk. The fort is located at the end of the skywalk. Exploring the various tunnels was quite interesting! There were a few mini museums hidden in the tunnels documenting WW II.

🇵🇹 Church of Saint Francis, Porto
The Church of Saint Francis is one of the famous religious landmarks in the historic centre of Porto, a UNESCO world heritage site. It is a Gothic church that was initially built in the 14th century and later renovated in the Baroque style during the 17th and 18th centuries. Its opulent interior is often considered as a masterpiece of Portuguese Baroque art. One of the most famous aspects of the church is the Chapel of the Bones adorned with human bones and skulls. The church also houses the tomb of King Ferdinand I of Portugal and his wife. The church is conveniently located next to the first stop of tram no. 1 at Infante.

Modern and comfortable Batam stay
✔️ Four Points Hotel By Sheraton
📍 Komplek Panorama Nagoya, Jodoh River, Batu Ampar, Batam City, Riau Islands 29432, Indonesia
Situated in the heart of Batam’s Nagoya district, this 4-star hotel is an affordable option for tourists looking for a more modern accommodation to stay in! It is part of the Marriott Bonvoy hotel group, with generally comfortable and hygienic rooms. Our room was quite high up so we got to enjoy a nice city view.
On the ground floor, there is an all-day dining restaurant that serves pretty decent local food. If your package includes breakfast, it will be served here as well. We didn’t opt for the breakfast inclusion as there are many eateries and food markets located nearby!
