For residents of the border city of Blagoveshchensk, Heihe has long been a popular weekend getaway, and we're no exception. So, we're sharing our favorite spots we always visit. 🍜 1. The first place I'd recommend is Dumpling Xi (look for the red sign with a running dumpling opposite the main entrance to Huafu). They have the most delicious dumplings we've ever tried, our favorite being the shrimp ones. 🥟🍤 2. Next, try the pulled meat dumplings at Jinxiader noodle shop. They cost 20 yuan, are delicious, and especially warming in cold weather. Look for the sign next to Huafu. 3. Cafe Lena. Everyone in town knows this Chinese restaurant, and for good reason. The cuisine is delicious, and you can order half and half. 4. Samovar Sunday hotpot. Unfortunately, there's no Russian menu, and no one can help you with translations, but you can use a translator. The servings are large, and everything is delicious and fresh. A large meal for two cost us only about 1,600 rubles. 5. And last on this list is the Gooood cafe/coffee shop. We found it on our last trip and were pleasantly surprised. The menu offers a variety of drinks, desserts, and European dishes like pasta. Heihe is a small city, and there aren't as many tourist attractions here as in Beijing or Shanghai. But trust me, there are a few places that are truly worth a visit. We've rounded up the top 4 spots you absolutely can't miss. 1. Russian Traditions Park (Open ONLY in summer) The most atmospheric place in the city! Here you can immerse yourself in the culture, take vibrant photos, and simply enjoy a lovely walk. Make sure to check your travel dates—the park is closed off-season. 2. Russian Village It feels like you've stepped into another country without even crossing the border. A highly colorful place where you can really feel the spirit of the neighboring nation. I recommend dropping by for at least an hour. 3. The Temple A calm and peaceful place. It features beautiful architecture and a pleasant atmosphere for a stroll and quiet reflection. Even if you're not religious, it's worth a visit just for the aesthetics. 4. The Riverbank The signature landmark of Heihe. It offers stunning views of the river and Blagoveshchensk. Perfect for evening walks and sunset photos. Be sure to bring along a good mood! Heihe might not dazzle you with an endless list of sights, but these four places will leave you with the warmest memories❤️

That was exactly my situation! This place is definitely worth a visit and will be a hit with both adults and kids. The Sino-Russian Traditions and Friendship Park (also known as the Russian Village) is located in the western suburbs of Heihe, about a 20-minute drive away. Its Chinese name is 黑龙江中俄民族风情园 (Hēilóngjiāng Zhōng-É Mínzú Fēngqíngyuán). The park features four distinct ethnic zones: Evenki, Daur, Manchu, and Russian. Bordering the Heilongjiang (Amur) River, the park offers stunning, fairytale-like views of the Russia-China border. The area is a beautiful mix of mountain ridges, peaks, cliffs, valleys, lakes, rivers, beaches, and islands. Word has it that autumn is especially gorgeous here, with all the hillsides painted in vibrant colors. The park is divided into two main sections: historical and modern. The historical zone recreates a 20th-century Russian village where tourists can explore traditional wooden huts complete with samovars and beds inside. There's also a barracks and a school nearby. Fun fact: several famous war movies were filmed here. The modern zone features stone cottages. Guests also love taking photos by the brick church, which looks quite similar to St. Sophia Cathedral in Harbin. There's a tall staircase leading up the hill, and once you reach the top, you're rewarded with breathtaking landscapes. My kids absolutely loved the "shouting fountain." It shoots water up if you yell loudly into a special pipe. The louder you scream, the higher the water goes! Some Chinese tourists were shouting but just couldn't get the fountain to go very high. Meanwhile, my 10-year-old daughter nailed it on her first try, leaving the locals totally amazed ;) The entrance fee to the park is 40 RMB per person.

There are several bathhouses in Heihe, and a new one just opened recently 🧼🧼🧼 The bathhouse is located at the Heihe Hotel 🛌. For us, a bathhouse is a steam room 🧖♀️ - a bath with a whisk. But in this case, the Chinese understand a bathhouse as a day of relaxation for the whole family 🎲 In our understanding, it's a full-fledged spa center 💆♀️ As soon as you step inside the building, you're immediately immersed in the very modern style of the lobby. At reception, you cross over to the women's and men's areas. This area contains lockers 🗄️ and a hair drying area 🪮 Further on, there's a hot pool, a steam room, showers, and a treatment room (scrubs, masks, peels). Various treatment options are available, ranging from 800 to 1,500 rubles, including admission. From the women's/men's rooms, you can move to the common room (they provide clothing, I'd say a full suit of shorts and a blouse). The common room features a play area for children 🛝🎰, a separate sleeping area 🥱, and enclosed two-level cabins for privacy with family. There are tables and pillows. Of course, there's also an open relaxation area. This room also houses herbal and salt rooms, massage rooms, and a snack area. Sauna or spa? But this place is great for relaxation 👍

Spending the weekend in Heihe is very close to us, as we live on the other side of the Amur River. People come here for clothes, food, dentist appointments, or just to relax! The Yida Hotel, which I can recommend, is in a great location. The area is quiet. The Huafu Shopping Center is just two blocks away in a straight line 🛍️, with shops, pharmacies, and snack bars along the way. By the way, you can stop by the excellent Zhonghue supermarket; everything is fresh and you can find lots of interesting treats. 🍬🍭🍫 On the other side of the hotel, not far from the Baiyue Bathhouse, you can say it's more like a spa. 🫧 It's divided into women's and men's sections, where you can get a body scrub 🧽 and sit in the hot pool 🛀. Then you go to the common area. There are already massage rooms, relaxation areas, a children's room, a salt room, a herbal room, and a small snack area. In the evening, you can stroll along the pedestrian street and continue to the embankment. Don't hesitate to dance 💃 with the locals and ride in the little red open-top cars with Russian music 🪗

This is our favorite hotel chain, so we only stay here in Heihe. The hotel is located right on the pedestrian street—very convenient, everything is within walking distance. If you're visiting for the day, you can book a room for 4 hours for 80 yuan. You can also pay extra and check out later. The breakfast is pretty good, 25 yuan. There's also a free coffee machine in the lobby—a great way to freshen up before heading out 😉 A washing machine and dryer are available for free. The delivery robot is a special delight! You order through the app, and it brings everything right to your room. This trip was totally spontaneous, so we didn't stress over finding places to eat—we just walked into a random cafe blindly. Here's how it went. 📍 Location The spot is right behind the Huafu Mall. Look for a huge sign with a boy's face on it; it's pretty hard to miss. MENU: 🥟 Dumplings — 8/10 I went with the Chinese dumplings—a safe bet. They weren't spicy and had a chicken filling. The best part is that they’re served in actual meat or chicken broth, not just plain hot water, which is awesome. In the broth: green onions, tiny shrimp, and nori. It all tastes amazing when you sip the broth on its own. You can add some heat if you want—the spices are right there on the table. 👉 The portion is massive, as usual, definitely enough to share. 🍜 Meat soup — 7/10 My dad ordered the soup to try. From what I gather, the soups here cater to spicy food lovers, but if you don't add extra spices, it's not overwhelmingly hot. Dad rated it as having "that classic Chinese soup flavor" (whatever that means 😅) 🍢 Meat skewers Beef — 4/10 Portion — 4 skewers with spiced meat chunks. It looked appetizing, but honestly, half of it was just pure fat. 👉 Not the best choice. Chicken — 8/10 Portion — 5 skewers. Online marketplaces have taken over, and you can really feel it, even in China. 🏬 Where to shop today? In the city center, it's the classic scene: MAIN SHOPPING STREET AND HUAFU SHOPPING MALL Walking into Huafu, you're initially dazzled. It's not as massive as the malls in Shanghai, but the sheer density of goods is higher (or at least, that's the first impression). 🎨 What did I unexpectedly love? Craft lovers will find some cool corners on the top floors: painting plaster figures, bedazzling phone cases, and making jewelry 🛍 What about the actual stores? Once you settle in, you realize the selection isn't as vast as it initially seemed. You can easily walk through everything in about 2 to 2.5 hours. Each floor has a specific theme: women's clothing men's clothing kids' clothing homeware 👀 What surprised me? Vendors... don't haggle anymore? First, they strictly forbade me from taking pictures of the bedding and literally shadowed me. Then, just for fun, I tried to haggle—and they didn't drop the price by a single yuan! 🥸 For Heihe, that was a huge shock. 🛍 Haul: I did end up doing a little bit of shopping. But now: it operates from ~07:00 AM to 6:00–7:00 PM across a massive area Only a fraction of the stores are open, the rest stand abandoned. But the quality of the items is incredibly low. Though, to be fair, I used to absolutely love places like this as a kid. 🌅 THE MORNING MARKET After the mall, I decided to give shopping one last chance and checked out the morning market (which kicks off around 4:00–5:00 AM). 👉 Expectation: a clothing market 👉 Reality: food and groceries There are almost no clothing stalls—just a couple of vendors with empty clothing racks. It just got even more depressing.

The rooms feature: · a spacious layout · large beds · a comfortable bathroom All necessary toiletries are provided. 👉 the only downside — there are no bathrobes in the room But you do get: · a kettle · cups · a couple of bottles of water Besides the bed, there's a nice daybed where you can lounge around without even getting changed. The rooms are also equipped with a "smart home" system — the curtains open and close automatically. 👉 spending the night in this room is pure bliss 🍳 Breakfasts I booked a room with breakfast included. Breakfast runs from 7 to 10 AM. I couldn't find any on other hotel aggregators, and you can pay with Russian cards. The hotel costs 1,500-2,000 rubles, with breakfast for Chinese tourists. Ours didn't even have tea or coffee, only water. 💸You can buy yuan at Russian banks! We didn't exchange it, so at the Chinese border they charged us a fee (60 yuan) in rubles. 1,000 rubles instead of 660. After security on the Chinese side, there's an exchange office at the port. You can exchange your card there or at the shopping center. 🍜We had lunch at the Druzhba cafe: it was cheap and delicious, but the portions were incredibly huge. Get the small ones! All the cafes are concentrated near the Huafu Shopping Center in the center, where you can also eat at the food court on the top floor. There's a large supermarket in the shopping center.
