We had an excellent private tour lasting one week with our German-speaking guide Adrian, who turned out to be an outstanding tourist guide and driver. He was highly adaptable and even took us to places not originally planned, but absolutely worth visiting. The unexpectedly lively cities of Cluj, Suceava, and Iași provided fascinating insights into Romanian daily life, all set against pleasantly green surroundings. The hotels arranged by the agency were perfectly satisfactory and offered substantial breakfasts. This part of Romania, particularly Maramureș and the region of the Moldovian monasteries, impressed us as culturally rich and inspiring. Visiting in June, the area wasn’t overcrowded, and we found the people to be kind and welcoming. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Romanian culture, landscapes, and atmosphere. We returned home with roughly 3,000 photos!

Some of the history is a little sketchy, but visitors are sure to gain an impressively clear and coherent understanding of Bukovina's past. Archaeology enthusiasts will definitely like this place, highly recommended.

There are two ways to get to the fort, you can park your car under the downtown park area and walk all the way through the forest to the fort, or you can drive directly to the fort parking lot. Events and performances are held here at certain times, and large numbers of tourists come to visit. There is also the village museum nearby which shows what the houses looked like in the past and how people lived in the past. Quite an interesting place, worth visiting, highly recommended.
