If you love authentic destinations with fewer tourists — Bosnia is definitely worth visiting. ⸻ Day 1 — Sarajevo: history, viewpoints & old town Baščaršija The heart of Sarajevo and the oldest part of the city. Narrow streets, Ottoman architecture, souvenir shops, traditional coffee houses, and local food everywhere. ⸻ Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque The most famous mosque in Bosnia, built in the 16th century during the Ottoman Empire. Very peaceful atmosphere and beautiful courtyard. ⚠️ Dress modestly (cover shoulders/knees). ⸻ Yellow Fortress One of the best viewpoints in Sarajevo. Amazing panoramic city view, especially at sunset. ⸻ White Fortress Less touristy than Yellow Fortress but also worth visiting for panoramic views and quiet surroundings. ⸻ Srebrenica genocide memorial spots Bosnia’s painful history is still very present. Blagaj Tekke A monastery built next to a dramatic cliff and turquoise river spring. Feels almost unreal. ⸻ Počitelj A medieval stone village with fortress ruins and incredible viewpoints. Lots of stairs, but totally worth it. ⸻ Kravica Waterfalls Beautiful waterfalls surrounded by nature. In warmer months, people swim here. ⸻ Konjic Bridge Historic Ottoman bridge with mountain scenery around. ⸻ Day 3 — Sarajevo: war history & hidden places Kozija Ćuprija An old Ottoman bridge surrounded by nature. Quiet and peaceful, ideal for a walk away from crowds. ⸻ Sarajevo Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track An abandoned Olympic bobsleigh track from the 1984 Winter Olympics. Today it’s covered with graffiti and surrounded by forest — one of the most unique places in Sarajevo. ⸻ Tunnel of Hope One of the most important historical places in Bosnia. During the siege of Sarajevo, this tunnel connected the city with the outside world and helped transport food, medicine, and supplies. Studenci , Bosnia Direction: Taxi, self drive or Tour Entrance fee : 20KM/ 10 Euros A star tourist attraction of Bosnia, located around 40km from Mostar. The opening hours of this water fall is from 7am to 8:30pm. There are different activities to do here including swimming, sun bathing, kayaking and taking a boat ride. There are several restaurants there but note that there is very little halal options. The water fall looks amazing and it is good for photos and swimming. Before the trip, I just saw it as a country you drive through on your way to the coast. But it turns out, it's home to some of the most breathtaking natural spots in the Balkans. My first stop was Vrelo Bune, a park just outside Mostar. Here, emerging from the depths of a massive karst cave, is the source of the Buna River—one of the cleanest rivers in Europe. The water is so crystal clear it almost looks invisible. With swans, wooden bridges, centuries-old trees, and absolute peace and quiet, it feels like time moves at a completely different pace here. The craziest part is that this is literally just a few minutes' drive from one of the most tourist-heavy cities in the country, yet it's nowhere near as crowded. But the real highlight of the day was still to come. Kravica Waterfalls—a place that photos and videos simply can't do justice. Over twenty powerful streams of water plunge off limestone cliffs, creating a massive natural amphitheater over a hundred meters wide. On a sunny day, the water takes on an incredible turquoise color, and there's always a light, misty haze hanging in the air. You don't just have to admire the falls from a viewing platform here. You can hike down to the water, take a dip, rent a boat, and paddle almost right up to the cascading falls. The roar of the water, the refreshing chill even on a hot day, and the sheer scale of the place leave an impression that's hard to put into words. I guess these are the moments that make me love traveling so much.
