Canaries Waterfall is one of them, but the problem is, there's no traffic at all! So, of course, we walked. The waterfall is located near the village of Canaries, on the west coast of the island, but don't expect it to be right next to the village. It's about a two-hour walk from Canaries. And this isn't just a stroll to a beautiful landmark, but a true journey through the tropical nature of Saint Lucia. The road winds through lush greenery, along forest trails, surrounded by genuine Caribbean jungle on almost all sides. The further you get from the village, the more you feel like civilization has been left far, far away. And at the end of the route, the waterfall itself appears – the water cascading among dark volcanic rocks and dense tropical vegetation. After two hours of driving, it's especially nice to finally see water and realize: yes, it was worth it. And, of course, to swim! I like places like this much more than the hyped-up tourist attractions. Here, you don't feel like you've come "to see a sight on a program." You're truly walking through nature to discover it yourself. So if you're heading to Canaries Waterfall, allow plenty of time and plan on a proper hike, not a short stroll from the village. We recently returned from an amazing trip to Sugar Beach Resort. Chelsey warmly greeted us and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. For our anniversary, we were treated to a complimentary dinner at Mare Mare, which was truly special, along with a delightful cake 🥰. The hotel and its sister property feature stunning, well-maintained grounds. There’s an excellent selection of restaurants; our favorites were Buddha Bar, Mare Mare, and Coconut Café. (The only minor downside was the evening buffet, which offered somewhat repetitive options.) Breakfast, however, was excellent—special thanks to the omelette chef for consistently delicious creations. The beach was beautiful and well-maintained. We loved that no matter the time of day, sunbeds were always available. The location offers breathtaking sunsets, which made the experience even more magical. We highly recommend the resort for a relaxing holiday, and it’s conveniently close to plenty of sightseeing opportunities. Choosing this hotel and area for our winter getaway was perfect—the weather on this side of the island ranged between 25-27 degrees, ideal for the season. Although the pool temperature was quite cool, we still enjoyed swimming, and the sea was noticeably warmer. We brought beach shoes after seeing reviews about coral and sea urchins. While they’re not necessary for swimming close to shore, they were helpful for exploring further out. The colonial design of the hotel was beautiful. Although we had read comments about the hotel feeling dated, we didn’t find that to be the case. Despite being 29 years old, the property is well cared for and has undergone modern upgrades over the years. We wouldn’t hesitate to return because it fulfilled all our expectations.

We just spent 10 nights at Sugar Beach. This was our second visit, and it definitely won't be our last. I can't fault anything about this hotel—the staff, food, and its location are simply excellent. During our previous stay, we brought our daughters, and we all loved it. This time, we came as a couple, and it was just as delightful. The adult pool is perfect for relaxing during the day, while evenings at Buddha bring lively entertainment and a refreshing change of pace. This might be my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at.
