Wonderful piece of history that is not a world heritage site, but perhaps should be when viewed alongside ancient Side. The building is large, originally seating 15000 people. When in use it had an orchestra pit where they held gladiatorial contests.
This is defintly worth a vist it only cost 100TL (turkish lira) to get in and is by far worth a visit. Givs u goosebumps.

Collection of Historicy
⏰ Side Museum open daily : 8:30 AM–7:45 PM
💰 Side Museum Entrance Fee : 100 ₺
Side welcomes visitors in a Roman bathhouse which was restored and converted into a museum in the ancient city.
It is an exciting place to visit as it has a lot of great artifacts which for the most part are not exchibited on the shelves but in a more natural way - inside the large Roman baths (dating 5th - 6th centuries A.D.) which were restored and converted into an archaeological museum and in the garden. You can feel a very special atmosphere there.
The sculptures of Gods and the reliefs of the sarcophagi are absolutely spectacular and testify to the highest level of skills of the artists of Asia Minor.
Despite of a very hot day, inside it felt pretty cool and there was a lot of shade which also contributed to the pleasant visit.
It would be interesting to visit it, even if you are not a connoisseur of history. However, if you are a history lover, we would recommend to read some information about Side prior to your visit and also pay attention to the signs and inscriptions there.
Enjoy your visit!

Side Travel Recommendations for 2023 (Updated in Dec)
Ancient City of Side
Side is a city on the southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey, it lies near Manavgat and the village of Selimiye, 75 kilometers away from Antalya. Some of the sites open from 0830-1730.
It includes the modern resort town and the ruins of the ancient city of Side, one of the best known classical sites in the country.
The first thing that comes to mind when mentioning Side is the Temple of Apollo and Athena. Even if there are several columns left from the temple, you will be amazed at its magnificence.
You can have a boat ride around at its harbour or visit the sea front restaurants and cafes.
It retains many relics from the days when the cities flourished as a center of trade, other historic buildings situated on a vast area of the Side peninsula.
Roman ruins in a beautiful coast town
side is known for their Greco-Roman ruins. the city itself is just gorgeous, which located in the coastline on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean Sea. we rent a car and drove all the way from Antalya to side, it only took us an hour and half. the architecture here is beautiful as well. there are lots of cute cafes and restaurants overlook the sea. after walking pass by the old town, you will reach the most famous site in Side - Apollon temple. this is the perfect place for people to watch sunset. we watched sunset here and flew the drone. with the palm trees in the background, the ruins look extremely beautiful.
overall, those Roman ruins are worth the visit, at night they will be illuminated. this entire town is just lovely #tripblazers #bucketlistreboot #mytripvlog #beachlife

Charming Old Town With Stunning Night View
📍Old Town Of Side
The heart of Side is its charming old town, where you can wander through narrow streets lined with historic buildings, browse boutique shops, and sample delicious local cuisine.
With its 3,500 years of history, Side's old town will amaze you with ancient ruins from Roman and Byzantine times. These include:
Commercial Agora: The cultural and economic center of the city and a popular meeting place during the Roman period. It's located next to the ancient theater and houses a lot of ruins, such as the temple of Tyche, and a well preserved market street.
State Agora: Southeast of the Commercial Agora are the remains of the second-century State Agora, that was reserved for the elite circles in the city.
Monumental Fountain (Nymphaeum): Near the outer city walls, you can find part of the Roman aqueducts dating from the 2nd century AD.
Roman Baths: The Roman Baths opposite the Commercial Agora probably date back to the 5th century. Since 1962, it has served as the Side Museum.
City Walls: Construction of the once six-kilometer-long city wall began in the late first century. It served to protect the city and some of it can still be visited today.
City Gate: Located near the Nymphaeum, the large main gate was first built as a free-standing structure and only later integrated into the city wall.
Colonnaded Road: A marble-paved street framed by columns that once led from the city gate to the old city center. Today, remains of the columns with original mosaics can still be seen and are a very popular photo motif.
South Basilica: This basilica was built right next to the two main Roman temples in the city, which were later incorporated into the atrium of the Byzantine church.
Monumental Gate: It was built on the Commercial Agora. Today, only the foundation walls are preserved.
Vespasian Monument & Gate: A fountain was erected next to the inner city gate in honor of the Roman Emperor, Vespasian.
Temple of Dionysus: Remains of the early Roman temple dedicated to the god of wine near the ancient theater.
Temple of Men: Along Barbaros Caddesi, you will find remains of a temple that was dedicated to Men, an Anatolian deity of the Moon.
In conclusion, Side Old Town is surely a hidden gem lying in wait for the tourists to explore, so keep it on your places to visit when you happen to go to Türkiye in future!

Apollon Temple Travel Recommendations for 2023 (Updated in Dec)
Temple of Apollo and Athena - Side, Turkey
The remarkable Temple of Apollo and Athena, dating back to the 2nd century, is located in Side Old Town in a picturesque place on the shore of the bay. The Temple is considered as one of the most romantic attractions in Antalya region.
If you have a chance, make sure you go there. The magnificent temple of Apollo and Athena is mostly in ruins, but you get the feeling how it looked like before.
The territory of the temple is small and you can see everything in 30 minutes. The Temple is close to good restaurants where you can have a nice lunch or dinner. So there’s so much to do in that area!

Apollo Temple Where Anthony ❤️Cleopatra Met
A visit to the ruins of the Apollo Temple makes for a fascinating experience for lovers of romance and history. It is believed to be the place where Anthony met Cleopatra; he presented the Apollo Temple as a token of his love and devotion to her.
Even without the romantic angle, the Apollo Temple is a magnificent work of architecture dating back to 2nd century AD. What made it different from other temples of that era, is its antechamber which had a pair of massive Corinthian columns. It was built in honor of Apollo, the god of light and music.
