It's super easy to get to, making it the perfect day trip from Fukuoka. 🛥️ How to get there from Hakata: 1. Take the JR line from Hakata → Fukko-Daimae (~20 mins) 2. Catch a bus to Shingu Port 3. Take a ferry to Ainoshima (~20 mins) 🐱 Things to know before you go: · There are very few restaurants/convenience stores, so stock up on supplies on the mainland. · Check the ferry schedule carefully, as there are only a few trips per day. · Ferries might be canceled on rainy or windy days. · The locals ask visitors to "please refrain from feeding the cats random food" for the sake of their health. When I went, there were a lot of people lining up most of them were also heading to the cat island. 🚌 Look for the bus with a sign that says Ainoshima Tosenba (Ainoshima Ferry Terminal). Ride it to the last stop. The bus fare is 100 yen (IC cards are not accepted). ⛴️ The ferry to the island runs on a set schedule. Tickets are purchased from a vending machine. I took the 11:30 AM ferry to the island and returned at 1:50 PM. Tickets must be purchased one way at a time there are no round-trip tickets. For the return trip, you’ll need to buy your ticket at the island right before you head back.
