Osuna travel guide and discussion

One of the greatest monuments in the history of bullfighting is located in the center of Seville. The bullfighting arena began to be built in 1761, but construction was not completed until 120 years later. The architectural style of the building is late Baroque, typical of the second half of the 18th century. It is much more than just a bullfighting arena. It is one of the most valuable and symbolic architectural ensembles of the Andalusian capital. There was no bullfighter who did not dream of fighting a bull within the walls of this famous arena. #europetrip

#JulyDestinations2025 ⛪The Cathedral of Seville 🌏Seville Cathedral ⭐A fusion of Islamic and Christian styles 🕰️Construction date: AD 1506 // ⌛The site of Seville Cathedral was originally the Great Mosque of Seville. The mosque was demolished in the 15th century, and Seville Cathedral was built on its site. Once the largest religious building in Christendom, it is considered one of the world's three largest cathedrals, along with St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and St. Paul's Cathedral in London. It has been designated a World Heritage Site. 📜The construction of Seville Cathedral spanned various periods, including Mudéjar, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical Academicism, before finally achieving a period of simplicity and purity that attempted to unify all of these styles. The building reflects the heyday of Spanish Gothic art, interspersed with influences from Arabic architecture, a harmonious blend of the two, resulting in the architectural masterpiece it is today. The remains of an Arab mosque in the church retain the style of Arab architectural art. For example, the eye-catching mesh decoration and multi-arched horseshoe-shaped windows on the tower facade retain a distinct Arab style. The bronze statue of the goddess Giralda on the tower has a Renaissance art style.

Andalucia Tour ~ Seville (Region) This is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the area, dating back to the Taltesan people. The archaeological site of Las Canteras and Holy Week in Osuna have been declared National Tourist Attractions and will help visitors understand the essence of this part of Andalucia. Osuna, known as Turdetani Urso, stretches along the slope of a hill that serves as a watchtower over vast expanses of olive groves and cereal fields in the Seville countryside. Its long history has left a legacy of interesting monuments and works of art from the various cultures that have settled here. The "Osuna Relief" is a Turtedani work from an archaeological site in the region, preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid. The town also had a very important position during the Roman Empire, as can be seen from the "Osuna Bronze", a compilation of laws that can also be seen in the same museum. Osuna has some evidence of architecture from the Arab period, such as the Torre del Agua and the numerous canvases on its walls. Both structures belong to the Almohad period. The city's history continued with the Reconquista of San Fernando III and its incorporation into the Order of Calatrava until it came under the government of the Duke of Osuna. It was between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries that Osuna began to enter its period of greatest wealth and splendor, which is why a large number of buildings were built during the Spanish Renaissance and Baroque. #2024TravelReview #SpainTravel #Andalucia
