The multi-storey station is relatively modern and clean, and conveniently located within walking distance of our first destination: City of Caves. I would recommend pre-booking tickets for both the City of Caves and the National Justice Museum to avoid long waiting times. There is sometimes a combined ticket option available, which can offer a small discount. Before this trip, I didn’t realise that Nottingham has an extensive network of over 500 man-made sandstone caves beneath the city centre. Visiting the City of Caves was a unique and memorable experience. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived, but we still waited around 15 minutes, as entry is organised in timed slots. Visitors are guided in small groups for safety and to preserve the site. Our guide, dressed in period costume, led us through the caves while explaining their historical uses. It’s important to follow safety instructions carefully and stay within designated areas. As we explored, we learned about the development of the cave system and the city itself—from the medieval period through the Industrial Revolution, and into their uses during both World War I and World War II, when some caves were adapted as air raid shelters. Just wrapped up a short escape to Nottingham, and I’m honestly impressed by how this city blends deep rooted legend with modern charm, Known worldwide as the home of Robin Hood, Nottingham offers so much more than just folkloreit’s full of fascinating history, vibrant culture, and cozy city vibes. Of course, I had to visit Nottingham Castle, perched on a sandstone cliff with panoramic views over the city. The castle museum brings the Robin Hood story to life, while also diving into the city’s role in rebellion, royalty, and revolution. Just beneath it lies the City of Caves a maze of man-made tunnels carved into the rock beneath Nottingham, some dating back over one thousand years. Super cool and a little spooky. Wandering through the Lace Market district was another highlight once the heart of the world’s lace industry, it’s now packed with independent shops, stylish cafes, and beautiful old warehouses turned creative spaces. And yes, I found some amazing vintage spots! In the evening, I couldn’t resist visiting Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, said to be England’s oldest inn, built right into the cliffs. Whether or not you believe the ghost stories, it’s a must visit for the atmosphere alone. Nottingham might not be the first city people think of when planning a UK trip, but that’s what makes it special it’s full of unexpected stories, friendly locals, and a little bit of magic around every corner. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming, professional, and attentive, creating a smooth check-in process. The hotel’s central location made it ideal for exploring Nottingham’s city centre, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions just a short walk away. It's just a 2-minute walk from the Theatre Royal Concert Hall, a 7-minute walk from the shops at Victoria Centre and an 11-minute walk from Nottingham Castle. The chic wood-furnished room was comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, with a very cozy bed and thoughtful amenities like complimentary water, a good-sized desk, TVs, stereos, minibars, and tea/coffee making facilities, and quality toiletries. The blackout curtains and quiet atmosphere made for a great night's sleep. One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast, a wide selection of both hot and cold items, fresh fruit, and great coffee. I also enjoyed a few drinks at the bar while catching up with friends. I really appreciated their gym, indoor pool and spa facilities, which were well-maintained and offered a relaxing break during my trip. Overall, the Crowne Plaza Nottingham delivered excellent service, comfort, and convenience.
