We visited a few attractions near Kotagiri but this one was spectacular!! We reached there at the time of sunset and there was view of mountains with and without shadow of other mountains. Sky colors were so beautiful and different. From this view, you could actually see a lake, a waterfall and far far mountains. Fortunately that day, there were no so many clouds and actually the view was clear. Based on the location of this viewpoint, I think sunrise would be more specular. But ya sunset has its own charm and the route to this point is beautiful in itself. It was so peaceful n green surrounded by kodanad tea estate. Seeing life in the Indian mountains is one of the attractions of this railway. There were more Indian tourists than foreigners. For us tourists, it felt less like a means of transportation and more like a way to enjoy the scenery. Most people were taking photos and videos, clearly enjoying the ride. Reservations are almost essential; you're lucky if you can get on on the day. I booked two months in advance, but some dates before and after were already booked, so it's best to plan and book early.
