The Cotswolds, a charming countryside area in England 🇬🇧 Located about a 2-hour train ride from London (Paddington Station), you can get off at Moreton-in-Marsh to reach the Cotswolds. We stayed at the Lords of the Manor, a manor house repurposed from a 17th-century mansion, and explored the Cotswolds by taxi and on foot 🏠 Although England is known for its frequent rain, we experienced a miracle of no rain during our 2-night, 3-day stay in the Cotswolds ✨ The places we visited in the Cotswolds were: 📍Bibury 📍Lower Slaughter 📍Snowshill 📍Broadway Tower 📍Bourton-on-the-Water Everywhere was filled with charming honey-colored buildings, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere 🌍 Bibury is a must-visit spot where you can see quintessential Cotswolds scenery. While we also visited London, the Cotswolds left a deeper impression. It was adorable, peaceful, and time seemed to flow leisurely 🕊️ I’d love to visit the Cotswolds again 🥹 and stay at the Lords of the Manor once more 🫶

Bournemouth Lower Gardens Bournemouth Lower Gardens The garden is not large; it is actually just an urban green space, but it feels especially beautiful because there was basically no one there at the time. Such a peaceful garden. Everywhere you look is bright and lush green, very comfortable, a visual delight. That patch of green truly relaxes the mind. Bournemouth has three city parks: Upper, Central, and Lower, but only Lower Gardens is listed in the directory. Upper Gardens and Central Gardens are not recorded.

This 4-star English country hotel completely exceeded my expectations. ✨ [Stay experience] The hotel enjoys a prime location in the Cotswolds with excellent privacy! 🌳 The large, private courtyard is instantly relaxing, and it is super convenient to drive to popular towns like Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. The best surprises: ▪️ A massive 300-square-meter parking lot 🅿️—a dream for road trippers. ▪️ Rooms so spacious you could dance in them, and bedding so comfortable I wanted to buy the same set. ▪️ Freshly made scones with jam for breakfast—finger-licking good! 🍓 [Must-do tips] 1️⃣ You must take a morning stroll in the courtyard! The rose garden in the mist looks just like a movie scene. 2️⃣ If you are driving, remember to book a room type that includes parking so you do not have to worry about finding a spot. 3️⃣ I recommend bringing a book; it is so cozy to read on the vintage sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window in the afternoon. Unlike the cookie-cutter feel of chain hotels, every detail here exudes the refinement of the English countryside. It is no wonder it consistently ranks at the top of the list. It's slightly lower in elevation (Angvundaschorr peaks at 1,120 m) and is ringed by Lake Lovozero and Lake Umbozero, right in the heartland of the Sami people. I took a suburban train from Murmansk to Olenegorsk (500 ₽), then caught a bus from Olenegorsk to the village of Lovozero (~900 ₽, a 2-hour ride, runs once a day). I spent the night in Lovozero (got a basic corridor room for 500 ₽) and headed out to hike the western tundra at 6:30 AM in July. The cliff moss here acts as a natural seep for the pasture: you'll find Hylocomium and Sphagnum in the hollows where the reindeer herds wander down to drink, Fissidens clinging to the basalt of the Elmorajok gully, and Metzgeria thriving on the north-facing cliffs above the Lovozero shore. The tundra moss is heavily mixed with Cladonia lichen (the famous white "reindeer moss" is actually a lichen, not a moss, which tourists often confuse). Around 7:00 AM, I watched a herd of 40 reindeer cross the gully, their hooves squelching in the damp moss. A Sami herder followed on an ATV about 200 meters away; we didn't exchange a word. The village of Lovozero does have a Sami ethno-village (Sam'-syit, though it's actually 120 km south—the town of Lovozero itself just has the regional museum). Mistakes I made: I arrived expecting well-marked trails like you'd find in Khibiny, but Lovozero has none—just reindeer paths and stone cairns. Do yourself a favor and hire a local guide (around 3,000 ₽/day), or you'll end up walking in circles around the same gully. Another mistake: I wore trail runners, and the uneven tundra tussocks completely rolled my ankle. You really need bog shoes or stiff hiking boots out here. Would you hike the western Lovozero tundra at 7:00 AM with a local guide to see the reindeer moss pastures, or would you skip it and do the Seydozero trek instead?

For a day in the Cotswolds, it’s best to have a car so you can make your way from one historic town to the next, enjoying the narrow winding roads, lined with hedge rows. There are many bigger and busier places to visit, like Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow on the Wold, Broadway, etc. But this time we chose to visit some of the smaller, lesser known, yet highly picturesque Cotswolds towns. We started in Winchcombe, which is a beautiful old town with a large castle (Sudeley Castle) and many pubs. After visiting the castle and having a look at the St Peter church, we stopped in the White Hart Inn for a nice pub lunch! Great food and atmosphere in this pub. We then drove to the Slaughters (Upper and Lower Slaughter) to visit some more small historic villages.
