Jiucaiping in Hezhang is the world's largest wild chive flower belt. Every September, purple chive flower balls cover the entire ridge, appearing and disappearing in the mist, incredibly romantic. Follow the wooden boardwalk to the top of the mountain; on one side is a sea of flowers, and on the other are rolling peaks. The wind is strong, blowing one's heart wide open. Daocheng Yading Daocheng Yading in September is like a scene from a movie. The meadows of Luorong Pasture have turned golden, and the Yangmaiyong Snow Mountain is dazzlingly white against the blue sky. The Milk Lake and Five-Color Lake are like two gems embedded between the snow-capped mountains. Although hiking up requires some physical effort, when that pure blue appears before your eyes, all fatigue will instantly vanish. This is scenery for the brave, and the most stunning confession of autumn. Add the places you like to your plan, and one day you will set off.

Liuba was such a pleasant surprise! A 2-day, 1-night trip to Shizigou, Lover's Valley, and Zibaishan—let's escape Xi'an together~ ❣️ We arrived at Shizigou in the afternoon. The sun had already dipped behind the mountains, so the overall lighting was a bit dim, but it was still beautiful. 🐏 Feeding the lambs reminded me of feeding the deer in Nara 🦌 ❣️ It got so much cooler as soon as we reached the entrance of Lover's Valley. Driving there with blue skies and white clouds made summer feel so much better. 💤 We stayed at a homestay in Huoshaodian that night. We arrived quite late, so we explored the town early the next morning. It turned out to be the most beautiful town in the Qinling Mountains—nestled against the mountains and water, it was truly stunning. I'll write a separate post about it. ⛰️⛰️⛰️ Then it was off to Zibaishan. We arrived a bit late, so we took the scenic shuttle bus up, which has two sections, and started hiking once we arrived. As expected of a scenic spot, it's all stairs, and some sections were a bit narrow, which caused some congestion. However, it was cool the whole way, and the scenery was great. It’s been such a long time since I’ve been to a mountain over 2,000 meters. Since the mountains were closed, I’ve only been able to reminisce about the beautiful views above 2,000 meters in my photo album. The round-trip loop took 3.5 hours total. It wasn't too tiring, and my legs weren't even shaking after coming down. It’s a highly recommended 48-hour weekend escape.

You don't actually need to visit too many places to find somewhere truly worth going. I was organizing my photo album recently and came across pictures from wandering around a few small counties last autumn, and I'm getting the itch to travel again. None of these are popular big cities, but precisely because they are quiet and comfortable, they make you want to return again and again. I'm sharing four of my secret autumn destinations that are affordable and incredibly healing. Liuba: A small city deep in the Qinling Mountains that looks like an oil painting in autumn. I went in late October. On the drive into the mountains, the forests on both sides transitioned from green to orange-red, and sunlight filtered through the leaves, making the whole road shimmer. What I miss most about Liuba is the morning on the old street. It's not overly commercialized. The breakfast shops by the roadside are steaming, and a bowl of hot rice noodles with a side dish costs just a few dollars and leaves you feeling satisfied. Walking slowly along the old street, you can see elderly people sunning themselves and chatting under the eaves. That slow pace of life makes you relax involuntarily. For photos, I recommend going near Lover's Valley in the early morning. The mist hasn't cleared yet, the light and shadows are particularly soft, and every shot has a great atmosphere. Tengchong If I could only go to one place in autumn, I would choose Tengchong without hesitation. In late November, the leaves in Ginkgo Village turn completely yellow, and the whole village looks like it's wrapped in gold. I specifically chose a weekday to visit, so it wasn't crowded. Stepping on the thick fallen leaves, the rustling sound was incredibly healing. Besides the ginkgo trees, Tengchong's Rehai (Hot Sea) is also worth experiencing. After walking until you're tired, go soak in a hot spring. The sulfur scent is faint, your skin feels smooth afterward, and your whole body warms up. Heshun Ancient Town is perfect for an evening stroll. The sunset shines on the stone paths, and you can buy a freshly baked flower cake to eat while walking—sweet but not cloying. You must also try Tengchong's ersi (rice noodles). The texture is soft and chewy, the broth is delicious, and I ate it twice in a row without getting tired of it. Fuxian Lake Autumn at Fuxian Lake has a different kind of quiet beauty. Compared to the summer crowds, the lakeside is much quieter after autumn arrives. The lake water is crystal blue, and the breeze is gentle. I rented a bicycle to ride along the lake, stopping and going, and whenever I saw an angle I liked, I would stop to take photos. There are several beaches by the lake where the sand is soft and comfortable under bare feet. Finding a patch of shade to sit and daydream, watching the lake shimmer, I could sit there all afternoon. In the evening, order a pot of copper-pot fish at a small lakeside restaurant. The fish is tender, and the soup, with potatoes and tofu added, is served piping hot—it dispels all the chill of autumn. This place is perfect for a short weekend getaway; it's affordable, but you gain so much peace of mind. Deqing Deqing's autumn is hidden in the bamboo forests of Moganshan. In the mountains in October, the air is crisp, and the bamboo covering the mountains and plains is still emerald green, occasionally interspersed with a few red maple trees, creating a beautiful layered effect. I stayed at a homestay at the foot of the mountain, woke up to the sound of birds in the morning, and opened the window to a view full of green. During the day, I went to Yucun to wander around. There are many interesting small shops and cafes there. Ordering a coffee and sitting outdoors, watching the rolling mountains in the distance, is very pleasant. If you like hiking, you can walk from Yucun up the mountain. Along the way, there is a babbling stream, and when you get tired, you can stop and listen to the sound of the water. Deqing gives me a feeling of understated comfort, perfect for those who want to briefly escape the city. I hope you all find your own perfect scenery.
