🇧🇪 Belgium Trip – 7 Days, 4 Cities, 2 Countries
This trip to Belgium was a mix of big cities, historical sites, quirky border towns, and even a stop in France. It was primarily a train-based trip, very convenient.
✈️ Day 0
Departing Bangkok for Brussels, Belgium.
🚆 Day 1 – Antwerp & Baarle
Arriving at Brussels airport in the morning, we took the train to Antwerp.
We chose a hotel near Antwerp Central Station, which was very convenient for both transportation and sightseeing.
After dropping off our luggage, we headed to Baarle, one of Europe's most unique border towns. We took the train to Baarhout and then a bus into Baarle.
The special thing about this town is that the border between Belgium and the Netherlands cuts through the street, shops, and even houses. You can walk across the border in just a few steps – a very unique and interesting experience. Plus, the town is incredibly charming.
In the evening, we returned to Antwerp, checked into our accommodation, and then strolled around the old town, admiring the beautiful architecture. We decided to have some quick fast food since we weren't very hungry, and there was a supermarket next to the hotel so we bought some fruit. Stocked up on bottled water in the room.
🏛️ Day 2 – Antwerp
Spent the whole day exploring Antwerp.
Walked around Antwerp Central Station, considered one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. Strolled around the Grote Markt, admiring the old buildings and the authentic European atmosphere.
Sampled local food: Belgian beer, cheesy potatoes, waffles (but no mussels this season!).
🏰 Day 3 – Ghent
Checked out, left luggage at the hotel, and spent the morning and afternoon exploring Antwerp a little more. Had a simple lunch, picked up our luggage, and took the train to Ghent, a city many say is the most beautiful in Belgium. Here, we chose a hotel near the train station again, just a short walk away. After checking in, went for a walk around Graslei and Korenlei along the canals. The ancient buildings along the river with the evening light created a very romantic atmosphere.
🇫🇷 Day 4 – Lille, France
From Ghent, took the train across the border to Lille, France.
Lille is a city that perfectly blends French and Flemish influences. It has a beautiful central square, charming cafes, and a bustling shopping area. 🦢 Day 5 – Bruges
Today we travel to Bruges, the fairytale city of Belgium.
The old houses, canals crisscrossing the city, cobblestone streets, and medieval bell towers make the whole city seem like something out of a fairytale book.
Even with a large number of tourists, it remains charming, and it's understandable why many consider it the most beautiful city in Belgium.
It was a great decision to stay here. The hotel is beautiful and charming. At night, the city is quiet and peaceful, with houses and bridges decorated with lights – absolutely stunning.
🍫 Day 6 – Brussels
In the morning, we went for another walk in the city. It was quiet, beautiful, and so impressive that we almost didn't want to leave. Finally, we traveled back to Brussels, the capital of Belgium, which is a bit bustling. After checking into our accommodation, we explored the Grand Place, one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. We sampled Belgian chocolate and waffles and strolled through the narrow alleys of the old town – a perfect ending to our Belgian trip.
