We arranged a custom 19-day trip across Kenya, featuring safaris in Nairobi National Park, Tsavo East and West, Amboseli, Aberdare, Ol’ Pejeta, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, and Lake Naivasha, along with a few days exploring Nairobi. On our first morning, we met Lennox and our safari guide Anthony to review the details before beginning our journey with high hopes. Those expectations were not only met but surpassed in every way. Kenya is an incredible destination, and witnessing so many animals and birds in their natural habitats was breathtaking. Anthony's enthusiasm and sharp skills in spotting wildlife, driving through challenging (sometimes muddy) terrain, and his deep knowledge of birds made him an exceptional guide. This aligned perfectly with our interests. Highlights included encountering a pack of about 20 African wild dogs resting in Tsavo West, watching cheetah and lion hunts (even if not successful) in the Masai Mara, feeding Baraka, a blind rhino at Ol’ Pejeta Conservancy, and experiencing the wetlands teeming with an overwhelming variety of birds and hippos in Amboseli. We also observed birds of prey, owls, vultures, storks, and even a secretary bird. The abundance of amazing photographs will help us cherish those moments forever. Our accommodations ranged from lodges to tented camps, and despite not being "camping people," we thoroughly enjoyed the tented stays, especially the cooler nights. I was surprised to discover that Kenya is home to the world's northern white rhinos—a fascinating fact shared by our tour guide.
