Sharing Series After My Third Cruise Trip - Part 1: A Briefing on the Costa Grande
Sharing Series After My Third Cruise Trip - Part 1: A Brief Report on the Costa Favolosa
My third cruise trip was a 14-day cruise on the Costa Favolosa, departing in May 2026, covering Northern Europe: Germany, the UK, Scotland, and Norway. See attached image 1.
This brief report aims to provide readers with additional information. The Costa Favolosa's maiden voyage was in 2011, and it underwent renovations in 2018. Therefore, we will not use modern standards for comparison; this is a showcase of the services included in the basic fare for the Costa Favolosa.
· Onboard Facilities: As listed in the brochures, well-maintained. A few public restrooms are somewhat old, and the free binoculars for standing upright on the deck are also old.
· Cabin Comfort: This time, I booked an inside cabin, a 7-series cabin located in the middle of the deck, which is also the middle deck of the cruise ship. The ship's swaying was minimal, the soundproofing was excellent, and the bedding was clean.
· Room Amenities: As listed in the brochure, well-maintained. Electric water heater (no drinking water). One USB outlet on the bedside table and one European standard outlet on the dressing table. Water pressure in the room is good, with sufficient water pressure and heat for showering.
· Language of Communication: International languages are the primary languages used on board. English is the common language, and announcements, menus, and daily reports usually offer services in Italian, English, Spanish, French, and German.
When you log in to the Costa Favolosa app, you will be asked to select one of the above five languages.
· Dining Services: The buffet restaurant included in the fare primarily serves Western cuisine from the above five countries.
· -The buffet restaurant service included in the fare is divided into time slots: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. It does not run continuously from morning to evening!
· -The buffet included in the cruise ticket only offers hot water, coffee, and a variety of tea bags during breakfast and afternoon tea. At other times, only cold water is available.
· -The main restaurant included in the cruise ticket primarily serves Western cuisine from the five countries mentioned above. No drinks are included in the ticket; we ordered a bottle of water that cost extra.
· -The meals included in the cruise ticket are unavailable after 10 PM! Those who need food can patronize the restaurants that are still open for a fee.
· Onboard Wi-Fi: The cheaper option offers very limited online services. It is recommended to check at the Wi-Fi counter before purchasing. Wi-Fi is available in time slots; please check the timetable on the table.
· Shore Excursions: The quality of the attractions varies!
· -The "Visit to the Brewery" was good, while the "Mountain Hiking and Scenic Views" was poor. The tour guide's explanations were very simple!
· Crew Service: Overall, the crew service and atmosphere were very good.
· Port of call: The port of embarkation is different from the port of disembarkation!
This is the second installment in a series of sharing after my third cruise trip: Why I chose the Costa Cruises Splendor. Coming soon!
