There's one unique fact that amazed me: the cows on the Kars plateau apparently eat a local plant called Göle Sorjanı (Allium czelghauricum), a type of endemic onion plant that grows at altitudes of 2,000–3,000 meters. This natural reason is what gives their milk its distinctive floral aroma and produces a cheese flavor unmatched anywhere in the world! Despite the impressive history, today Kars is a small agricultural based town of about 80,000 people, making it the largest Turkish city on the border with Armenia. Kars is full things to see and to try, come here for 2-3 days and you will not regret it.😋 One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the imposing Kars Castle, which has stood for centuries and is a testament to the city’s rich history. Take a stroll through the historic streets of Kars and marvel at the beautiful Ottoman-era buildings that line the streets. Walk along the streets and you’ll notice there are reminders of the Russian occupation in town including the Fethiye Mosque.
