If you’re visiting Grenoble, there’s one spot you absolutely cannot miss: Fort de la Bastille, the hilltop fortress that has become the iconic symbol of the city. The highlight of any visit is riding the Téléphérique de Grenoble—the spherical glass cable cars known locally as "Les Bulles" (The Bubbles) 🚠. They whisk you across the Isère River and up the mountainside in just a few minutes. Once you reach the summit, you’re greeted with a breathtaking panoramic view of Grenoble, perfectly framed by the majestic Alps. From this vantage point, you can see the city’s rooftops, winding streets, the river, and mountain ranges stretching to the horizon. It’s immediately clear why Grenoble is known as the "Capital of the French Alps." 🏰 Originally built for defense, Fort de la Bastille no longer serves a military purpose but remains one of the city's most significant historical landmarks. What I loved most is that it’s more than just a fortress; there are scenic walking trails, great photo ops, and quiet spots to simply soak in the surrounding nature. The day I visited, the weather was perfect, and the views of the mountains encircling the city were crystal clear. Grenoble’s location, nestled in the heart of a valley, makes it feel unique compared to other French cities. Sometimes, the most beautiful part of a city isn’t found in the city center, but from a high point that lets you see everything from a wider perspective. In Grenoble, that place is definitely Fort de la Bastille.

Berlioz was an unlucky composer! His music was not popular in his home country during his lifetime, and his concerts were not popular. He lived in poverty all his life, and only made a living by writing some small things, and he died at the age of 66. The former residence of Isère is actually the home of Berlioz's parents. He lived here until he was 18. His father was a doctor, and his life must not be too tight! The house is beautifully decorated and has a strong life atmosphere, which is fascinating! The museum is not convenient for transportation and can only be driven by car. The tickets are free.
