Day 1 From Nagoya to Yokkaichi Station → Tsubaki Grand Shrine Make sure to check the train and bus schedules carefully, or you might end up waiting for a long time 🥹. Yokkaichi Station has nothing much to offer, so killing time there can be challenging ⏳. Tsubaki Grand Shrine has a serene atmosphere and is full of spiritual energy. Perhaps because it was a Sunday, I had to wait about 10 minutes to reach the main hall 🤏. Although it's a bit far, it's definitely worth visiting!!! The return bus service is limited, but there are dining options nearby, so passing time isn't a problem ✌🏻. Since my hotel was in Isuzugaoka, I enjoyed Yamaguchiya's Ise Udon in Ise City during the train transfer. 🏨 I returned to the hotel early to prepare for the next day. ※ Note: Beyond Ise City, IC cards for transportation are not accepted, so you need to pay directly to the station staff after getting off the train ※ Day 2 🙆♀️ Around 7 AM, I visited Futami Okitama Shrine. Afterward, I took the bus right in front of Geku to the Inner Shrine (Naiku). ※ During busy times, temporary buses are available, so transportation shouldn't be an issue! 🙆♀️ The Inner Shrine is much larger and more crowded than the Outer Shrine. There's a spot where you can touch the Isuzu River to purify your hands before proceeding. 🙆♀️ At Okage Yokocho, I enjoyed strolling and sampling various foods. Everywhere had lines, so I opted for quick bites like dumplings and minced meat cutlets. I then relaxed with coffee at Isuzu River Café, which offers a view of the river. I bought Akafuku as a souvenir and quietly enjoyed it on the train back to Nagoya 😋. 🙆♀️ Lastly, I visited Sarutahiko Shrine. I placed my hand on the famous stone to recharge my energy! Another shrine within the premises was under construction 👷. Afterward, I took the bus back to Ise City and returned to Nagoya. It's recommended to check for temporary buses at the Inner Shrine bus stop. I wasn't aware of them and boarded at Sarutahiko Shrine bus stop, where I waited in the cold for over 20 minutes, and the bus was packed 🥲. Although coordinating train and bus schedules was a bit challenging, I had a very relaxing time and felt recharged! Definitely give it a try!

I went to Oharaimachi (Okage Yokocho), a tourist spot located in front of Ise Grand Shrine in Ise, Mie Prefecture! Oharaimachi is an 800-meter street lined with shops, and it was fun just to browse! Here are some of my favorites and some recommended by my followers. 😸 ◾︎ Fukusuke, famous for its Ise udon. If you go early, you can try their handmade Ise udon! Unfortunately, we didn't make it in time and it was sold out, but if you've tried their handmade Ise udon, please let me know what you thought! 😋 ◾︎ Akafuku It's very famous and can be purchased at department stores, but at the main store, you can eat the handmade udon made by artisans. ✨ The winter-only "zenzai" (red bean paste) was also delicious. 👏 ◾︎ Iwato-ya Japanese confectionery shop. "Mankintan" has been a popular souvenir for pilgrims to Ise since the Edo period. Carried as a travel talisman, it's a traditional medicine still available in Ise today. Ise Kusuri Honpo, the company behind Mankin Gelato, uses medicinal herbs. While I thought it was just a buzzworthy treat, I was surprised to find that it's also delicious as a gelato! Today, I chose "Mankin" as the main dish, with "Ise Tea" and "Iwato Salt" as side dishes. 🍨 · Mankin The cinnamon flavor is complemented by a hint of herbal notes. The medicinal flavor is subtle and addictive. People start lining up before opening, so if you want a seat on the second floor, I recommend lining up early! Sitting on a plush chair isn't tiring at all, and you'll arrive in no time. ✅ [Futami Koshitama Shrine] ⛩️ Purify your mind and body at this shrine, famous for its two married rocks. Receive a "Mukusiokusa" (pure indigo grass) and keep it close to your body. It's said that placing it at the entrance of your home will also ward off evil. ✅ Head to the Outer Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine! The customary order is to visit the Outer Shrine first, then the Inner Shrine. Toyouke-no-Omikami, the guardian deity of food, clothing, and shelter, is the deity who supported Amaterasu Omikami's diet. There's a model itinerary posted on the website, so I recommend following it! ✅ Our lodging was the Fairfield by Marriott Mie Okuise Odai. It took an hour from Ise-shi Station to Misedani Station. Gazing out the window at the natural scenery along the way felt like a time trip! Even the station was so local! The hotel is listed as two minutes from the station, but in reality, the only ticket gate is on the opposite side, so it took about seven or eight minutes to get to the railroad crossing. The room was new, clean, and spacious enough for a solo traveler. The stylish and clean shower and sink were also a big plus! It was a long way from the hotel, but it was worth the trip! There's no dining area, so you can stock up at a nearby supermarket, or eat at a Japanese family restaurant or roadside station! [Day 2] ✅ Head to the Inner Shrine of Ise Grand Shrine! I recommend following the same itinerary. A visit to the main shrine, where Amaterasu Omikami is enshrined, is a must. It's said to be more appropriate for praying for the peace and prosperity of the nation than for personal wishes. Whatever the reason, you're sure to feel recharged! ✅After your visit, head to Okage Yokocho for some souvenirs and a meal!
