The tower briefly held the title of tallest tower in the world, replacing the CN Tower, before being surpassed by the Tokyo Skytree. It was the tallest structure in China prior to the topping out of the Shanghai Tower on 3 August 2013, and is now the second-tallest tower and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world.

In Guangzhou’s Sunflower Garden, over 30 types of tulips have been brought in. Hundreds of thousands of tulips have been created into some 30 different scenes and sites by florists, it’s really very fun. Even Ms. Marilyn Monroe showed up on site. From a sea of flowers, her dress billows away in the wind. Even though tulips are the main theme here, don’t forget to look up above. To show various styles of the flowers, the Fair has had many flowers from all over the world suspended from the ceiling for viewers to admire. For example, Cape Leadwort from South Africa, Winged Begonia from Brazil are all beautiful flowers which are not to be missed.

🐋 WHAT AN AMAZING AQUARIUM 🌊

The place was just beyond my expectations. Amazing aquarium, really awesome. Insane roller-coaster and the lights and fireworks show at the end are great. The Ocean Aquarium is one of the largest in the world and I could have spent all day there just watching the majestic whale sharks. There is a cafe that has direct viewing windows into the aquarium, providing the most amazing photo opportunities having a coffee watching rays, sharks and fish. Worlds BIGGEST water/theme park!

Situated outside the Guangdong city of Zhuhai is Chimelong Ocean Kingdom and boy is this place awesome! There is a whopping 8 areas to see within the park, all with a different theme. Loads of restaurants and chill out spots for the family and a MASSIVE aquarium area. Don’t forget, at the end of the day there is a huge show put on including jet skis, water jet pack men, fireworks, drone displays - you name it, they’ve got it. However it is later on in the evening and the little kids may be struggling by this point after a long day of craziness. Easiest way to travel to the park is shuttle bus from Zhuhai or take a taxi but traffic on the way back can be a little crazy leaving the park (talking from experience 😅) and obviously more expensive. Sea World is a the hub of Shekou in Nanshan, Shenzhen. The area is a hub for food, drink and shopping and draws a lot of expats due to it’s big selection of western food joints. The area is built around a refurbish French cruise ship, built in 1968 - the ship sits in a big body of water that is surrounding by a walkway, gardens and restaurants. The area is busy over the weekends especially if the weather is good, there are lots of places with outdoor seating and happy hours to help enjoy the weekend. You can get to the area via the Sea World metro stop or by walking along the Shenzhen Bay park as it finishes a the bottom end of Sea world. Sea world is within walking distance of Nanshan mountain and it’s a great place to relax after hiking the mountain for the views out over Shenzhen bay and Hong Kong. There are play areas and arcade games for children and also a culture and arts museum opened in partnership with the V&A museum in London. 📍 Shekou, sea world 🌎 Italien food that you will not regret 😎 Il Faro is a tiny restaurant next to se world (not located where the big boat is but to your left when you exist from subway station A, then 5min walks straight, you won’t miss it). The place is cosy, all the plates are delicious with a lot of traditional italiens dishes. I usually good there for a pizza 🍕 They are around 100 to 180rmb 💴 per person. If you are a pasta lover, count around 120rmb per person. For me, this is the best italien place in Shenzhen. This is just a 10/10.
