2024 Forster Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in October)
Today's Weather
Mostly cloudy 15-21℃
Don't get me started, as a big international traveller you can understand when I say I have the travel bug, but with national and state borders closed. Nothing can stop you, just take your car and hit the road. Despite I have been around a lot in my home state of NSW, the unforseen circumstances allowed me the privilege to explore even more parts of NSW and to places I haven't yet been to. Just look at the breath taking photos of parts of NSW I've now been to. Words can't describe how lucky we are to live and to have this nearby. You just gotta get out and go do it, I have been going solo and doing hikes at amazing places esp. in the Mid North Coast like Forster and Seal Rocks. Down the south coast, amazing places that aren't touristy like Stanwell Tops and Bombo (Kiama was overcrowded with Sydney tourists). Parts of the Mid North Coast like the 4th photo I have, there weren't any tourists other myself and the locals, doing a hike like up to the peak of the mountain was rewarded with views like that and great to support local businesses. I even explored more of my home in the Greater Newcastle Area, it's full of national parks and state conservation areas that I never been to and it was amazing to go to. Who really needs to go overseas now? Honestly get out of your house, jump in the car and away you go! I've already got two separate road trips planned up the North Coast in the next two weeks! Stay local and support local 👍 Come aboard the journey @travellerswill

Forster, Australia Travel Guide!
Forster is located about 300 kilometers north of Sydney and is a small town full of natural beauty and outdoor activities. Whether you want to explore the natural scenery or enjoy delicious food, Forster is an excellent choice for travel around Sydney.
📍 Location
- Distance: Forster is about 300 kilometers north of Sydney.
- Transportation: There are two routes to get there, one on the west and one on the east. The western route is a small detour but mainly on the highway. The eastern route is to turn into The Lakes Way in advance. The journey is shorter but there are more small roads. The time difference between the two routes is not much.
🏞️ Recommended Natural Attractions
- Wallis Lake: Tiffany blue lake water, the lake is clear and bottomless, it is an ideal place for boating, fishing, surfing and swimming.
- Dolphin watching: Dolphins can be seen on the bridge and at the lake mouth, which is a great opportunity to get close to marine life.
- Pelican watching: Pelicans can be seen on the river bank, which is a great place to observe wildlife.
🚣♂️ Water Activities
- Boating, fishing, surfing, swimming: Forster offers a variety of water sports and is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.
🧢 Precautions
- Outdoor boating: Be sure to wear a hat, otherwise you may get sunburned on your scalp after boating for two hours like me.
- Fishing gear: Most shops may not rent fishing gear, you need to go to BCF (Boating Camping Fishing) and other equipment visitor centers to buy or rent.
🍽️ Food Recommendations
- Limlong Thai: Cheap and good Thai food, a good place to enjoy authentic Thai flavors.
- Tartt: The coffee is delicious, it is an ideal choice to enjoy leisure time.
- Tuncurry Rockpool Cafe: The orange house by the sea, offering fresh seafood and beautiful sea views.
- Spice Monkey Forster: Asian creative cuisine, tempura is very delicious.
- Cafe Toscano: A popular restaurant famous for its (fake) flower decoration. The fish and lamb are delicious, but the steak is dry and not as good as the one you cook at home.
The bridge connecting Foster and Tuncurry towns, like a white dragon lying across the entrance of Wallis Lake, is spectacular. It seems unbelievable to come to Foster without walking on Foster Bridge. Standing on the bridge and looking down at the scenery on both sides, one side is a yacht wharf with yachts of different sizes moored. On the other side is a white shallow beach, where tourists swim, dive, and fish.
New South Wales' Foster town and the neighboring town of Tuncurry, separated by Wallis Lake, form a unique bay tourism area. The two bay towns are connected by a bridge, making transportation convenient. Foster is located on the south bank, while Tuncurry is on the north bank, and the two towns are connected by a bridge that is 600 meters long. The two towns themselves are also picturesque, and even just walking around town is enjoyable.
