Don’t go to Montenegro without experiencing this bus ride to Bosnia. It has to be THE most spectacular bus ride I have ever taken. Beginning in Podgorica towards Niksic. Wind up past Pluzine along the bright blue water of the Piva Canyon. Followed by a simple and swift border crossing into Bosnia. Lots of winding roads into the beautiful hillside town of Foca (rest stop) and then on to the capital. Arriving at night into the east bus station which is located in the Republika Srpska - someway from the city centre - though cabs are available. Eski Foça / Foça, Turkey Foca is located on the site of the ancient Greek settlement of Phocaea. The city is divided into two districts: *Eski Foça* (Old Foça) and *Yeni Foça* (New Foça). Eski Foça is the historic center with charming narrow streets lined with cafes, restaurants, and small shops. It has a quiet, authentic atmosphere. Yeni Foça is a more modern area with hotels and resorts. You can get here independently by minibus from Izmir. The bus station is located next to the sea, so you can easily start your walk from the waterfront. Be sure to visit the harbor—it still functions as a fishing port. A dinner of fresh seafood at sunset here will cost, on average, three times less than in popular tourist towns. Accommodation won't be a problem: the city has many small hotels and guesthouses, often located in 18th-century stone buildings that are protected and cannot be rebuilt. Early in the morning, it's worth strolling through the still-empty streets, drinking Turkish coffee at a café overlooking the sea, and watching the fishermen return with their catch. Don't forget to try the famous local ice cream. Foça boasts the ruins of an ancient castle dating back to the 4th century BC, offering beautiful views of the coast. Turkey is considered a paradise for sea and beach lovers. Many Turks and tourists choose to visit the coastal resort towns along the Aegean Sea in the southwest or south of the country. But what is it like to visit in winter? Is it still worth visiting? Let's find out. The resort towns we visited are not far from Izmir, which is the largest city in the area. We visited three towns in total: Foça: - Located about an hour north of Izmir. - A seaside town not particularly known for its beaches, but full of seafood restaurants, cafes, and shops that remain lively in winter. - Food and drink prices are relatively high as it is a tourist town. - Most restaurants and cafes are near the harbor, attracting many visitors. Alaçatı: - The only resort town not directly by the sea. - Located about an hour west of Izmir. - During the day, some restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops are open, but it is more lively in summer and in the evenings. - The town's architecture features buildings made of brick and stone, reminiscent of Greco-Roman style. Çeşme: - A very important port town with ferries to various Greek islands. - Located about an hour and a half west of Izmir and 15 minutes from Alaçatı. - A bustling town with many restaurants, cafes, shops, tour companies, and more. - Food prices here are not very expensive. - In the evening, you can walk along the seaside promenade to watch the sunset, and if the weather is good, you can see the Greek islands just an hour away.
