🗓️ Durdle Door , July - 25 Degrees Celcius 🏨 Stay @Bournemouth 🍴Pack Food Hi All, after 10k views and hundreds of comments on my last Durdle Door which was very small i wanted to weight in the details for the Durdle Door only due to lots of questions raised. Thanks for all the interest ❤️✨ ❓How to go to Durdle Door ? 1. The place has a huge car park. You can drive in and daily park is around 15£ and goes up with time. 2. Busses from Bournemouth or any near coast. These hop in busses are really nice and day go over every coast there. It was around 18£ when i checked but many options. ❓Walking there from the car park ? A bit rough road.10-15 mins walk. On the hill. Left and right shores are there for the Durdle Door. The historic door is on the right hand one. While the left hand one is a beautiful, less crowded one seen on pictures. ❓What shoes to wear in the Durdle Door ? Its a bit rocky there but not harsh ones in the beach itself. Sea shoes are always a good to have. But wear shoes for your travel from car park to the shore itself. Its a 10-15 min walk and rocky. ❓What to eat there ? I would suggest packing sandwiches as there aren’t any restaurants nearby. You can find one just at the exit but haven’t tried. There are small caravans selling stuff but they open late times. Have limited options of crackers and sandwiches anf they are still at the car park so you can’t buy anything in the beach. ❓Where to stay ? I stayed at Bournemouth, 30 minutes away from the Durdle Door and travelled there with car. I also loved Bournemouth and The Hotel Best Western Plus the Connaught. You can stay at Swanage or Weymouth or Lyme Regis but i found them to be more expensive when compared. ❓Did you swim ? Yes, i did. It was 19 degrees water temperature. A bit chilly for my liking but clean and amazing one it was. Probably if the UK ever sees above 30 i will go there for the warmer swims. On cliffs above Portland Harbour.  · Access & Walking: The castle is accessed via the Rodwell Trail and nearby paths. The ground is uneven; some parts are unstable. Visitor access has been restricted at times due to safety.  · Facilities: Public gardens (Sandsfoot Gardens), benches, signage, pond, viewing areas. Limited café / refreshments in nearby Weymouth.  · Best Time to Visit: Clear weather, spring or summer for gardens in bloom; early evening for golden light over the sea. After storms can be dramatic but cliff erosion and safety may affect access.  ⸻ Why It’s Worth Visiting Despite its ruinous state, Sandsfoot Castle is rich with atmosphere. It offers a blend of history, sea-air, coastal scenery, and the melancholy beauty of decay. You can feel the weight of time—of seaforts, erosion, shifting ownership—and still enjoy beauty: gardens, light, sea reflections. For photographers, history lovers, or anyone who loves shoreline drama, it’s very compelling. ⸻ Final Thoughts Bring sturdy shoes and a windbreaker (sea wind up on cliffs is strong). Check current access status (this ruin has been fenced off before). Stay for sunset if you can—the light over Portland and the ruins is especially good. Walk the gardens, peer through battlements, let the sound of waves and the wind fill the space. Sandsfoot is best felt as much as seen.

Our trip to weymouth, we visited durdle door, man o war & lulworth cove. We had such a lush time. Great an easy to get to even if you dont have access to a car. The bus drops you right off at each point! The Jurassic Coaster is the bus by first buses. Plenty of times to get there and back. #summervacay Originally, I just wanted to check out that peculiar, long beach strip, Chesil Beach, extending away from the mainland behind Weymouth on the map. So, I simply decided to book a stopover here on my journey south, and it turns out this little town held quite a few unexpected delights! 🥰 I only found out upon arriving that Weymouth was the host city for the sailing events during the 2012 London Olympics! That immediately created a sense of familiarity and connection. Moreover, as an important naval defense base from the Middle Ages right up to modern times, it still has remnants of WWII military fortifications that were in use even then. During the D-Day landings, Portland Island, just south of Weymouth, was also one of the crucial assembly and departure points. I've visited quite a few "once-glorious" seaside resort towns in the UK, and while each has its own character, they generally feel quite similar. However, Weymouth stands out! With its subtropical vegetation and colorful old harbor buildings, it truly has the distinct feel of a charming European continental seaside town. I always wander into the old alleys at dusk, letting the setting sun stretch my shadow into a silent guide. I step lightly, careful not to disturb the vines creeping up the walls, nor the cat dozing by the door. This city never turns away latecomers; it lights its way with the smoke of hearths and makes its promises through aromas, waiting for those willing to humble themselves. I never ask for directions, letting my stomach lead the way. It remembers which winding path hides charcoal-simmered congee, and which door conceals a pot of slow-stewed broth. I follow the scent, drawn by an invisible thread. Pushing the door open, I am greeted by a rush of steam, and the warmth of the bowl feels like the hand of an old friend. With one bite, savory and sweet flavors intertwine on my tongue, as if the entire alley has lit up just for me. This city is never boastful. It simmers the years into its broth and kneads human warmth into its noodles, allowing travelers to taste its quiet devotion in every bite. I need no tour guide, for my stomach has already leafed through its most heartfelt chapters. It turns out that a sense of belonging is simply when both stomach and feet recognize the rhythm of a place. Like loved ones reuniting after a long time, no words are needed—just a bowl of soup and a stroll down a street are enough to tell you that you are finally home.

This is the very picturesque village of Abbotsbury in Dorset, England, known for its historic charm and scenic beauty. Abbey Farm houses artisan shops, studios, and a café with amazing cakes nestled in the countryside. The area is rich in history, featuring remains from the Benedictine Abbey founded in 1044. Nearby attractions include the famous Swannery and the historic St Catherine's Chapel. There are also subtropical gardens to visit nearby.

Beautiful weymouth Trip

Weymouth is one of those harbour towns that has a charm all of its own. The working fishing boats sit comfortably alongside leisure yachts in the calm, jade-green water, and the harbour area has a relaxed, unhurried quality that's a genuine pleasure to wander around. The harbour front is lined with a mismatched row of Georgian buildings, pubs, restaurants and little independent shops, each painted a slightly different colour, giving the whole stretch a cheerful, lived-in feel. The pubs spilling out onto the quayside have a real warmth to them, and the food reflects exactly where you are, fresh seafood, locally caught and simply prepared. Like many British seaside towns, Weymouth has its quieter corners and a high street that tells a more familiar story of changing times. But the harbour remains the beating heart of the place, and it's here where the town really comes into its own. If you stick close to the water, you'll find plenty to enjoy, and that easy coastal atmosphere that makes a trip to Weymouth well worth it.
