There are so many must-visit spots in Morocco!
Even after doing a lot of research, I was still confused and kept running into pitfalls during the trip 🥵
🥳 After 9 years of deep experience in Morocco, I’ve compiled a comprehensive Morocco guide for everyone. Highly recommend saving it~
Before the trip
Visa: Visa-free, friendly for those with blank passports
Currency: Moroccan Dirham, bring USD or EUR to exchange
Clothing: Hot in July-August, big temperature difference in the desert mornings and evenings in winter, bring down jackets or windbreakers, dress modestly when entering mosques
Safety: Overall environment is safe, no need to worry too much
Must-visit spots in Morocco
Marrakech:
Majorelle Garden, Ben Youssef Madrasa, Bahia Palace, Badi Palace, Secret Garden, Jemaa el-Fnaa
Pitfall tips: In the old city, locals may try to guide you or strike up conversations, be brave and say no!
Sahara Merzouga
Camel riding, bonfire parties, desert tents, infinity pools,
Everything you imagine about the Sahara is here~
Pitfall tips: Desert tents vary widely, cheap ones have dirty large dormitories and shared bathrooms, luxury ones have complete facilities, private bathrooms with hot water, and the most luxurious have air conditioning, floor-to-ceiling windows, and stunning afternoon tea. Choose carefully!
Chefchaouen - The Blue and White Town
Pitfall tips: The town is beautiful, but accommodation options are very limited, be prepared~
Fes
Fes Old Town, leather tanneries, handicraft workshops
Pitfall tips: The viewing platforms at the leather tanneries and many beautiful shops charge fees for photos, check the small signs in advance
Casablanca
Hassan II Mosque, Corniche, Mohammed V Square, seafood market
Pitfall tips: Motorcycle gangs appear by the seaside at night, don’t walk around playing on your phone!
Tangier
Caves of Hercules, Spartel Cape, beaches, old town, Atlantic and Mediterranean dividing marker
Pitfall tips: Strong wind and sand by the sea! Please take protective measures -
Lesser-known spots in Morocco
Essaouira: Medieval fishing port, filming location for "Game of Thrones"
Asilah: Blue and white town by the Atlantic, various artistic graffiti creations
Laayoune: The Sahara described by San Mao
There are other areas within the Sahara,
such as Agafay (day trip from Marrakech),
Erg Chigaga (higher dunes, longer journey~)
