You drive practically right up to the viewpoint, greeted by surrounding mountains, alpine meadows, and the iconic peaks of the Dolomites. 🚗 If you're driving: · the scenic drive is absolutely gorgeous; · parking is available right by the pass; · it's best to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon — there are fewer crowds and better lighting for photography. 🥾 You can easily take a leisurely stroll around the pass or tackle one of the designated hiking trails. Even a quick walk rewards you with breathtaking panoramas. My advice: don't pencil in Passo Giau for just a "15-minute quick stop." You'll find yourself wanting to pull over at every bend, sip coffee while overlooking the mountains, and simply take in the moment. Starting Point You should pin your location to Rifugio Auronzo to park at this mountain hut. There's a massive parking lot right before the trailhead. The parking fee is 30 euros per day. Taking the bus is an option, but it can be quite tricky since the schedule is very limited. Another major highlight you absolutely can't miss is a photo spot inside an old World War-era cave. From there, you can capture a stunning shot of the three peaks framed perfectly by the cave opening—it's incredibly beautiful. Be sure to make the trek up to the cave! It requires an extra hike of about 1 kilometer, but despite the slightly longer distance, it's totally worth it for the amazing photos.

The path is narrow and cliff-side, so be careful, especially if the weather is wet. While the route isn't easy, the views at the end are well worth it. It's recommended to visit before noon or in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. During peak season, there are some queues at the main viewpoint, which can be quite crowded. The golden hour is when the sun is low, when the viewpoints are beautiful and the clouds forming atop the peaks create impressive shots. #Travel to save the world Today, we will take you to hike up Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Dolomites. We start from Rifugio Auronzo, which is the accommodation and starting point of the trail. As we walk, we will see a view of three magnificent rocky peaks. Although we are tired from the uphill path, it is worth it when we see the peaks of Cima Grande, Cima Piccola, and Cima Ovest up close. The trail is about 10 kilometers long and takes about 3-5 hours, including taking photos. There are rest stops and small chapels along the way. The weather is cool and comfortable, so it is suitable to wear a windbreaker and prepare drinking water. Anyone who loves nature and high mountain views must not miss this place!

Here are our tips: 🗺️ Places to visit / Things to do: 1. Lago di Braies: The most beautiful lake in the Dolomites which can be accessed by car. The boats can only be rented during summer and are a bit overpriced 😅 It’s worth it though 🛶 2. Lago di Braies: Due to the easy accessibility the lake gets very crowded throughout the day. Either visit early in the morning or before sunset to avoid the crowds 💦 3. Tre Cime di Lavaredo - Basic Hike: Park at Rifugio Auronzo (quite expensive) and walk around the 3 peaks (beginner friendly) 🥾 4. Cave at Tre Cime di Lavaredo: Start the basic hike and go to Dreizinnenhütte. Behind it you can already see the caves. The hike takes very long and depending on the season it can be easy or difficult (we went in May with melting snow and it took 12 hours) 😅 5. Alpe di Siusi: You can only drive up by car if you book a hotel. Otherwise you need to take the cable car 🚠 There are different ones but our favorite is the one from St. Ulrich. 6. Malga Sanon at Alpe di Siusi: Don‘t miss this restaurant with the cute lookout at Alpe di Siusi ❤️ 7. The Restaurant also has a swing with an amazing view 🥹 8. Lago di Sopapis 💙 Park at the hotel B&B Passo Tre Croici Cortina and start the hike from there. It‘s not hard but takes 2 hours to reach the lake. 9. Val di Funes 💚 The viewpoint is next to the church Santa Maddalena. Park in the town and walk up the street because it‘s very narrow. 10. Seceda 🏔️ Take the cable car in St. Ulrich (around 35€ pP, dogs allowed with muzzle).
