2026 Escorca Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in September)

We had a great stay at the Caprice Vell Mari Hotel from August 7 to 17, 2026 (2 adults and 1 teenager, 13 years old). We arrived early and were able to access our room at 1 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. ROOM The room was beautiful, clean, recently renovated, and tastefully decorated. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the bedding was comfortable. A fridge and a kettle with tea and coffee packets were provided. Our room in Block 2 on the top floor had a garden view, which was excellent. Each guest has a bracelet to unlock their room, which is practical and avoids losing cards. Our teen slept on the sofa bed, which was comfortable and ready with fresh linens upon arrival. Lovely extras included slippers, a pen and notebook, and unlimited toiletries like shampoo. ALL-INCLUSIVE – RESTAURANT There was almost no waiting, and the buffet was restocked constantly—very well organized overall. We really enjoyed the food, as it suited our tastes. The selection was just right, with staple options at every meal and some small daily variations. Saturday night buffets were impressive: seafood platters, chocolate fountains, paella, and other themed treats. Children’s staples included fries, pizza, pasta, and ice cream. There was a wide range of salads, charcuterie, grilled meats, fish, vegetables, stews, and desserts. The mousse was delightful, and there was plenty of fresh fruit. Guests could even create personalized ice cream sundaes with sprinkles, chocolate sauce, and more. Sometimes, Brie cheese and red wine were served too. Breakfast was diverse with sweet and savory options—croissants, donuts, ham, cheese, eggs, and supplies to pack sandwiches for excursions. BAR The pool bar (the only bar) served excellent cocktails, cold beer, and fresh drinks. During the day, they were served in reusable cups and in proper glasses during the evening. Small peanut snacks were available. SNACK Ideal for a quick bite, including burgers, hot dogs, salad, and fruit. More geared towards savory options. GARDEN The garden was stunning, very well cared for, and provided a refreshing atmosphere—truly outstanding. POOL The pool was open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with barriers restricting access outside of these hours. While some complained, I found this a great idea as it prevented early morning sunbed reservations by people who wouldn’t return until late afternoon. This way, sunbeds were available at 10 a.m., and with some patience, we could find spots after excursions. The pool and surroundings were kept impeccably clean, with sunbeds and the area pressure-cleaned daily. There was plenty of shade from umbrellas and natural tree cover. ANIMATION Daily children’s activities seemed enjoyable. Entertainment for adults was somewhat limited as this hotel caters more to families. LOCATION A beach is about a 15-minute walk, and a lively town center is a 20-minute walk, offering shopping, dancing, and DJ-hosted events (white nights, hippie nights, Spanish dance nights) that are free to enjoy. The hotel is also a convenient base for exploring the northwest of the island, including Formentor and Sa Calobra, with nearby attractions like Muro Beach and Alcúdia. A bus stop is located behind the hotel (it’s worth noting that rooms on the street side might be noisier, so we recommend garden-side rooms). Lidl is right across from the hotel, which is very practical. STAFF Most of the staff were friendly and approachable, with a few exceptions. GREAT OVERALL EXPERIENCE This newly renovated hotel has strong potential and is already very well-run. Few hotels in Can Picafort offer such spacious, lush gardens, which is a considerable advantage. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. TO IMPROVE It would be nice to have more storage in the rooms. The lobby could use a refresh. A climate-controlled bar or reopening the currently closed lounge bar, possibly as an evening dance bar for adults, would be a welcome addition. Animations were not consistent, and we couldn’t find the dress codes or show schedules displayed. There’s a lack of professional shows or traditional Mallorcan performances. Still, these are minor points—it was a fantastic stay!

I had previously joined other excursions organized by Vivere Maiorca and was always extremely satisfied; the recent Vivere Canyon experience was no exception! The tour leader Sergio (super friendly and highly knowledgeable!) guided us through the Torrent de Pareis, one of Europe's largest karst canyons, leading all the way to its mouth at the famous Sa Calobra beach. The route showcases unique and breathtaking landscapes, enriched by Sergio's fascinating natural and morphological insights about the areas we explored, along with some folkloric anecdotes about local legends. There are also some segments (manageable for everyone) where ropes are needed to continue, adding an adventurous and adrenaline-filled touch to the experience! After completing the canyon crossing, you'll be rewarded with a refreshing swim in the stunning setting of Sa Calobra—a perfect way to end your efforts! The hike is challenging but doable for everyone, as Sergio is excellent at adapting to participants' levels. You'll also receive clear instructions from Luca or Francesco of the Vivere Maiorca team on how to prepare and what gear to bring. If you visit Mallorca, this experience is an absolute must!

We had an amazing 3-hour tour of Cala Tuent and Sa Calobra with our fantastic skipper, Santi. Our 3-year-old son absolutely adored the experience, especially as it was his first time on a boat! Thank you for such a wonderful trip—we'll definitely do it again!

I took the TIB bus 231 from Palma (€5.50 one-way, 2.5 hrs, 3/day) to Sa Calobra, arrived at 10:00 in May. The cliff moss is the road cut: Polytrichum and Hylocomium in the rock-cut drainage where the hairpins expose the mountain's bones, Fissidens on the limestone seep at the "Tunnel dels Misteris" (a 200 m tunnel with moss dripping from the roof), and the cliff above the Sa Calobra beach has Metzgeria on the seep—the road is a moss hunter's paradise, every hairpin a new microclimate. I walked the tunnel at 10:30, the moss glowing, a hoopoe on the roadside, the sea turquoise below. Mistake: I drove a rental Fiat and met a bus on the narrow road—one of us had to reverse 200 m; take the bus, it's designed for the road. Another: I arrived at 13:00 and the beach was packed with tour boats; 10:00 arrival gives you 2 hrs before the crowds. Would you bus to Sa Calobra for the hairpin-moss tunnel and walk the Torrent de Pareis mouth, or drive and risk the reverse?

Access requires a €15 permit (book 3 days ahead at the Escorca municipal office or online portal), and the full descent takes 2.5 hrs of scrambling over polished boulders. I drove Palma→Escorca (1 hr), picked up the permit, started at 08:00 in April. The cliff moss is the gorge walls: Fissidens and Cratoneuron in the limestone seep where the walls close to 2 m (the "Pas de la Portella" narrows), Racomitrium on the shaded ledges 50 m up, and Sphagnum in the side gullies where a spring drips. I hit the narrows at 09:30, the moss silver with dew, a crag martin off the wall, the limestone glowing amber. The gorge is dry in summer but April showers keep the moss alive—water up to knee in places, so trail shoes with drain holes are essential. Mistake: I came in July and the permit was sold out—only 20 permits/day in peak, book early. Another: I wore trail runners without grip and slipped on the polished limestone; the gorge is shoe-friendly but not slip-proof, poles help. Would you do the Torrent de Pareis permit descent for the limestone-moss narrows at 08:00, or skip it for the Sa Calobra boat view?

I booked this vineyard tour for my sister’s hen do in Majorca (group of 12). They were extremely helpful during the planning, even recommending a taxi company for our transportation. I discovered the vineyard online and chose it based on TripAdvisor reviews. The tour guide was fascinating, very knowledgeable, and happy to answer all our questions. The food and wine we enjoyed afterward were absolutely perfect, with incredible flavors. The views and setting were breathtaking, and we felt so special having the entire place to ourselves as the only group booked. Before leaving, we treated ourselves to some wine from their shop, which was priced amazingly. This stunning vineyard exceeded all our expectations, and I’d love to return someday. Sa Calobra is a lovely experience if you're up for the long trip. The lighting is stunning, and all the photos really capture its beauty. We got there quite late in the day, so it was delightfully quiet with only a few people around. It's likely best to visit in the late afternoon or evening, though keep in mind the restaurants (mostly tourist traps) might already be closed by then. For those starting from Palma, I strongly recommend taking the Inca/Caimari route. We mistakenly went via the Sollér route, which was full of hairpin twists, blind spots, and narrow, cliffside roads. At one point, we narrowly squeezed past a tourist bus, and even passing regular cars was tough at times—especially tricky if you're driving a larger vehicle. Although your GPS might suggest the Sollér route as faster and shorter, don't be fooled. The Caimari route offers much better, wider, and newer roads. Your passengers will still enjoy breathtaking views, while you'll get to focus on not sliding off the cliffs!

During our daylong tour of Mallorca Island, we came across this stunning route. Traveling in a luxury bus with a group of tourists, we began ascending from Cala de Sa Calobra. The narrow serpentine road, featuring dozens of 360-degree hairpin bends, was absolutely awe-inspiring. This route isn't suited for the faint-hearted; it demands special driving skills. For cyclists, it offered the ultimate adventure. The views of cliffs, rugged terrain, mountains, and valleys were breathtaking—nature truly at its finest. We took a short break at a coffee shop perched at the top, a slice of heaven for nature lovers and photo enthusiasts. Eventually, we descended to Santuari de Lluc. This drive is an absolute must when visiting Mallorca.

On the route are some beautiful photo spots (you will see them automatically). The road itself is in good condition, but in some places a bit narrow. If you have difficulty driving or are scared, choose another beach. At the end of the route, you will find the bay. Beautiful picture, you can take beautiful pictures. At the bottom is a mini roundabout to turn around. Again, it is narrow but doable. Advice to drive all the way down first and hope for a spot, if not, back up and grab the best spot first. That way, you're right before you leave. The beach consists of stones, so take shoes with you. There is 1 tree where you can shelter (recommended). You can also walk there. #falladventures #travel #familytravel The road to Sa Calobra has gorgeous views across the mountains but has lots of twists and turns (which I quite enjoyed!) but I wouldn't recommend if you get travel sick!! The village itself had a great vibe and the beach was gorgeous (pebble beach) but just very busy when we went (queuing to walk through the tunnel to the beach etc). The parking is paid and cost us about £3 for an hour. Definitely bring cash as the car park attendant was very rude to us when we only had card, asked what nationality we were and and when we said we were English he tutted and started lecturing us about carrying cash! We went with the blue boats, really good. The cove is small and with stones I recommend carrying escarpments. Crystal clear water and beautiful views. You can walk about 10 minutes and get to the Torrent de Pareis cove much bigger which was full of people which made the water cloudy and dirty. There is a restaurant, bar and shop where you can eat and shop. With 2 or 3 hours you have enough and more with the number of people there. Like the pictures if you enjoy them! For example, you could drive along the Tramuntana mountain road to Mirador des Gorg Blau, then walk along the trail toward Canal de l'Embassament del Gorg Blau. There's a flat forest path, the sound of flowing water, and a picnic-like pause. Back at the viewpoint, the sun sets, transforming the landscape into a whole new world. 🔥 On-site Visit Review The road wasn't particularly busy, and the path up to the viewpoint weaved through rocky mountains and forests. From the trailhead, the scent of earth, pine needles, and birdsong lingered. The trekking course wasn't too difficult, so I took a leisurely stroll, capturing many moments, enjoying a quick snack in a spot bathed in sunlight between the trees, and on the way back, I felt a sense of calm as I gazed at the lake's waves bathed in the sunset.

This time I came to Mallorca to challenge Puig Tomir, I really didn’t expect it to be so exciting! 🙈 At first I thought it was an ordinary mountain road, but the more you walk more and more "wild", there is no clear path, you have to drill your own forest, catch rocks, and use your hands and feet to climb up. Halfway through the walk, I started to feel that the road was getting more and more wrong. Whether I should continue on or not, I was actually very confused. On the one hand, I wanted to get to the top, but on the other hand, I felt that I would slip down at any time if I took a wrong step, and my steps couldn't help but slow down. The views along the way are beautiful, the whole valley looks green and blue sky and white clouds, however it is really sunny and there is no shade at all. At that moment, my mind kept thinking: "Is it worth continuing?" This time I was wrong .. not enough water, wearing shorts, no gloves, fortunately I am a female afraid of tanning, otherwise like my husband did not even apply sun oil 🤣 and finally sunburned! Because the first time I walked, I guessed the wrong way halfway and went to a more dangerous part. Looking ahead was only a little short of reaching the top, but it was starting to be dangerous underfoot, and eventually decided to turn around and go down the mountain. The mood was really complicated at that moment—disappointed and relieved, like a mental battle with myself. Although I couldn't reach the summit, I already felt the challenge and charm of Puig Tomir. If you set the navigation to Sa Calobra and go, it actually feels like you are going deep into the mountains and you have to go through a very winding road. I thought, “Is there really a sea in a place like this?!?” But surprisingly, there was a port on this side. We rented a car and drove here ourselves, but since there is a port here, you can also go by boat from Soller! The water was really blue and refreshing and the color was prettyㅠㅠThe water was a little cold, but it was really good for escaping the hot heat! We bought bread from a bakery with good reviews in Soller and ate it. It was perfect for replenishing our energy after playing in the water! Where did you take the photos? First of all, you can take a boat to get there, but if you are comfortable driving, I recommend renting a car and going!! The scenery of the Tramuntana Mountains that we passed on the way was really huge and so beautiful...! It felt like I was briefly enjoying the great nature of Spain, and the drive on the way there was really memorable. 🧡After arriving and parking, you have to go through a long cave tunnel to reach the beach, which was like some kind of magical place. When I went through the cave tunnel, I felt like I was in another world. Although the weather was cloudy and the color of the sea wasn't pretty, the huge rocky mountain behind the beach that I had never imagined was really beautiful. It was like a scene from a movie where a dinosaur would jump out, and I didn't want to leave, so I sat with my back to the beach and looked at the scenery for a long time. 🧡If you come during the peak season, the beach is pretty but it seems to be crowded, and if you visit during the off-season, the weather can be variable, but it is a place you won't regret visiting just for the surrounding scenery as well as the beach, so I recommend visiting if you go to Mallorca^^

Rather, it was a place that was even better because of the peace and quiet of the off-season! The rocky mountain view that spread out next to and behind the beach shocked me who only thought of the beach....!!! It was so huge and like a scene from a movie, so I sat and stared blankly at the rocky mountain view before coming back;) You have to park in the parking lot and walk a bit to get to the beach, but you have to pass through a long cave and the sea spreads out on the side, so it was a good course to walk while enjoying the scenery! The road to drive might feel a bit rough, but the scenery was so beautiful and Sa Calobra was unforgettable!

The natural scenery was so beautiful that I felt I had to go there, and when I actually visited, it exceeded my expectations. The road along the narrow and winding road was a bit rough, but it was so impressive when I arrived. The view from the observatory was so beautiful that I couldn't express it in words. When I visited, it was very windy and a little scary, but I definitely recommend you visit :) It's good for taking pictures, and not only the observatory scenery, but also the scenery on the way there is so exotic and beautiful!!! It seemed to be a famous place for cyclists! It was one of the most impressive travel destinations during my trip to Mallorca^^The best!!!!!

I arrived at the observatory after driving along a narrow and winding road, but even on that road, the scenery was so spectacular that I couldn't help but exclaim in awe. It felt like the great nature I've seen in Spain, and even though I've never been to the US, it felt like I was in the US^^ ❣️When I arrived at the observatory, the scenery of the Tramountana mountain range and the blue sea was really great. In particular, the winding mountain road scenery was so beautiful. I fell in love with this landscape photo and definitely included it in my Mallorca course:) The road to get there by car is narrow and winding, so it might be a little difficult, but the scenery is so beautiful that I recommend you drive safely!!

I spent 2.5 days in Palma, Majorca. It was truly a magical trip! I took a trip to visit the northern part of the island. I rode the famous “Tren de Soller Tram” and saw the most charming little town, Soller. I want to go back and stay there!
