Captivating Straw Shoe Street@Zhaoqing, Guangdong

The Straw Shoe street(also known as Xiézǐ Jiē or 草鞋街) was an ancient street surrounding the ancient city wall in Zhaoqing, Guangdong known for its historic significance and cultural heritage. According to the Records of Zhaoqing Government, it was originally built during Daoguang's reign (1821-1860)in Qing Dynasty. Up to now, it has a history of more than 150 years. It got such a name because most of the local people wove and sold straw sandals from Qing Dynasty to 1949.
