Xiamen Andaz Hotel Review: A Southeast Asian Resort Oasis in the City I've heard rave reviews about the Andaz Xiamen from friends, and finally had the chance to fly to Xiamen and experience it myself. ✅Common Areas: A masterpiece by Jaya International Design, the Andaz Xiamen's common areas are exquisitely crafted. The hotel embraces a Southeast Asian style, seamlessly blending elements of Southeast Asia, Chinese, and European design: wicker sofas complement the exquisite porcelain displayed on antique shelves, vibrant patterned tiles contrast with swaying tropical plants, interconnected corridors and archways, and wooden louvered windows evoke a colorful dream of old Southeast Asia. The drop-off area features a courtyard design, with lush roadside trees, fountains, and lighting, creating a welcoming and ceremonial atmosphere. The elevator lobby uses a bold color scheme that echoes the tropical theme, and the hanging lamps are inspired by Xiamen's city flower, the bougainvillea. The hotel also boasts a rooftop garden, where waterscapes and greenery complement each other, not only beautifying the common areas but also providing a perfect spot for guests to chat and relax. The corridors connecting the various functional areas are unique, with white walls and patterned tiles, banana leaves and flame trees swaying outside the windows, sunlight filtering through the leaves onto the window screens, accompanied by piano music and woody fragrances in the common areas, creating a full resort ambiance. Strolling through these spaces is incredibly relaxing. ✅Room: I stayed in a Deluxe King Room, which had a style similar to Edition hotels, minimalist yet playful. The room features a bathroom, a separate toilet, and a walk-in closet, offering ample and comfortable space. Details like gold-plated hardware and sliding frosted wooden windows elevate the room's overall feel. The complimentary mini-bar offers a variety of soft drinks and two types of snacks, and the welcome fruit platter was also very generous. ✅Location: The Andaz Xiamen is adjacent to the Mixc Mall (both share the same owner) and has direct access to the mall. It's also very close to Xiamen Railway Station and Hubin East Road subway station, making transportation extremely convenient. While the prime location offers convenience, the hotel's views are somewhat lacking. Even from the rooms with a view, you can only see the hotel pool and residential buildings. ✅Facilities: The hotel's outdoor pool is commendable, equipped with lounge chairs and other leisure facilities, perfectly complementing the Southeast Asian garden theme and enhancing the urban resort experience. The fitness center includes a sauna and a jacuzzi. ✅Dining: Happy Hour: The hotel offers a complimentary happy hour with consistently good quality sweet and savory snacks and drinks. Chinese Restaurant: The dishes are beautifully presented and taste great. Breakfast: The Andaz's semi-à la carte breakfast has always been highly praised. The à la carte waffles are delicious, and the Shacha noodles and Eggs Benedict are also excellent. ✅Service: The front desk and concierge staff are warm and attentive, making you feel right at home. 🏘️Room Type/Layout: The Deluxe King Room has a minimalist style similar to Edition hotels, with a touch of playfulness. It features a bathroom, a separate toilet, and a walk-in closet, offering a spacious and well-designed layout. 🛌Amenities/Facilities: Gold-plated hardware and sliding frosted wooden windows enhance the overall feel; the mini-bar is complimentary and stocked with various soft drinks and snacks; the outdoor pool has lounge chairs, and the fitness center includes a sauna and jacuzzi. 💗Other Tips: 1. The hotel's common areas are exquisitely designed and perfect for taking photos, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the Southeast Asian ambiance. 2. Direct access to Mixc Mall makes shopping and dining very convenient. 3. A side guest elevator provides direct access to the ground floor, avoiding the need to transfer at the third-floor lobby. It's a bit hidden but more convenient to use.
