Whitby

I recently visited Whitby, and it completely exceeded my expectations. This picturesque coastal town is truly a hidden gem—rich in history, character, and natural beauty. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by the salty sea breeze, cobbled streets, and the timeless charm of the harbor. Whitby Abbey, perched dramatically on the cliffside, offers breathtaking views and a fascinating glimpse into the town’s storied past. The 199 steps leading up to it are well worth the climb! The beach is clean and wide, perfect for a relaxing stroll or traditional seaside fun. The town is also full of quirky shops, cozy cafés, and some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had (don’t miss Magpie Café or Trenchers!). If you’re into literature or Gothic vibes, Whitby’s connection to Bram Stoker’s Dracula adds a unique twist to its identity. There’s a palpable sense of mystery and magic in the air—especially at sunset when the abbey ruins glow against the sky. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful escape, a romantic weekend, or a family-friendly adventure, Whitby has something for everyone. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning my next visit.
