Nestled in a corner of Ebisu, Banten

Is a hidden record bar where Japanese culture and mixology cocktails come together. Step through a façade reminiscent of a tea room and you’ll be greeted by a striking back bar, a towering display of antique Japanese tansu chests dating from the Edo to Meiji periods. With medicine cabinets and other traditional furnishings, the space intertwines the warmth of bygone eras with modern refinement. Analog sounds flow through the MUSASHI Tube Integrated Amplifier, filling the space with music. Centered on jazz and soul, the smooth grooves envelop the space. The bar’s name, Banten, derives from the resonance of vinyl records (ban) and the carefully selected drinks chosen from among countless (ten) spirits—an embodiment of perfect harmony between sound and alcohol. Tokyo Christmas Market in Jingu Gaien

#christmasmarket Tokyo’s Meiji Jingu Gaien turns into a little slice of Europe every December, and the Tokyo Christmas Market at Jingu Gaien is one of the most magical spots to feel the holidays in the city. 🎄✨ Set up in front of the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery and the sports grounds, the market is filled with wooden chalet-style stalls, fairy lights and a 14-meter German Christmas pyramid themed around Grimm’s fairy tales – you can’t miss it, it’s the icon of the whole event. You’ll find: • Hot mulled wine & German-style food – sausages, pretzels, roasted nuts and seasonal sweets that warm you up instantly. • Handmade ornaments & gifts – from European-style decorations to cute Japanese Christmas goods, perfect for small souvenirs. • Live performances on the small stage, adding carols and acoustic music to the atmosphere while you eat and explore. What I loved most is how it blends with the surroundings: after browsing the stalls, you can stroll over to nearby Ginkgo Avenue, where golden ginkgo trees line the street – if you time it right in late November/early December, you get autumn foliage plus Christmas lights in one walk. Practical bits (check each year): • Usually runs from late November to December 25, from around 11:00–21:30 most days (slightly shorter on opening day). • Paid entry with prices higher on weekends/around Dec 20–25; adult tickets sometimes include an original mug as a souvenir. • Closest stations: Gaienmae, Aoyama-itchome, Shinanomachi or Kokuritsu-Kyogijo, all within about 5–12 minutes’ walk. If you’re spending Christmas in Tokyo, add Jingu Gaien to your evening plans: arrive before sunset to catch the last light on the ginkgo trees, then stay as the Christmas pyramid and stalls light up against the deep blue winter sky. It feels cosy, romantic and very photogenic – perfect for a festive night out in the city. ✨ Hashtags: #TokyoChristmasMarket #MeijiJinguGaien #TokyoWinter #ChristmasInTokyo #JapanTravel #TripcomTravels
