The flight from Beijing to Singapore takes about six hours. And actually if you count the time it takes to get to the airport and check in, it’s even longer. As soon as I landed in Singapore though it was go go go! My first night I stayed at the M Social, a hotel popular with the younger crowd. It's set right next to the Singapore River near Robertson Bridge. When you walk along the river, it’s as if the whole history of Singapore unfurls before your eyes. A short 10-minute walk will bring you to Clarke Quay and from there you can walk to Cavenagh Bridge and look out over the Bay. Early in the morning or in the evenings, hordes of people can be seen exercising or jogging along the river. When night falls, it opens into a world of bar music and beers. It’s almost as if you can smell the hormones in the air. When you enter M Social, you’ll find the smallish lobby staffed with friendly faces. You’ll be able to check in and check out with ease. Over at the hotel bar, the hotel staff are happy to provide whatever assistance you might need.
