All lit up against the night sky, the building looked nothing like the traditional image of a library. Honestly, if nobody told me this was a library, I might have thought it was an expensive condominium, a luxury hotel or some futuristic corporate headquarters! Standing there looking up at this magnificent building, I couldn’t help feeling a little envious of Singaporeans. Imagine having a government willing to pump money back into public facilities, education, knowledge and spaces that benefit the people. A library is no longer just a place filled with books — it becomes a beautiful landmark, a place to learn, gather, explore and be inspired. And the best part? You don’t need a luxury ticket to admire it. Sometimes, the most impressive things in Singapore are simply standing there in front of you, waiting to be discovered during an ordinary evening walk.
