A beautiful and niche travel destination that will have your friends asking questions. Such a beautiful place, yet so little known. When you come to Shangri-La, don't miss the "Cotton Castle" of China - Baishuitai. A natural wonder formed over thousands of years, the white calcified pools are stacked layer upon layer, cascading down like a waterfall. In the sunlight, the clear water shimmers and glistens, presenting a dreamlike blue or green color. No wonder it is called the "Field of the Immortals". It feels like a fairyland, and you can't help but marvel at the wonders of nature. The clear mornings or evenings on sunny days are great for taking photos! Baishuitai is located between Shangri-La and Tiger Leaping Gorge, about a 2-hour drive from Shangri-La City. The road is in good condition, making it suitable for self-driving or carpooling. Just navigate to Baishuitai Scenic Area. There are several buses from Lijiang to Baishuitai every day. Tickets are CNY 30 per person, and entry closes at 16:30. Parking is CNY 5 per time with no time limit. The visit takes about 2 hours. The circular route means you won't have to double back, so take photos of the beautiful scenery as you go. Note: There are stairs in the scenic area, which take about 15-20 minutes to climb. You can ride a horse when you first enter the scenic area, but be sure to haggle (CNY 50 per person is possible) and confirm whether the ride goes to the top of the mountain to avoid price increases halfway.
