Jade Civilization

"Empirical China - Songze·Liangzhu Civilization Archaeological Special Exhibition", is the second major exhibition in the "Why China" series of the Shanghai Museum. The special exhibitions of the Shanghai Museum are of high standard, always able to impress. 📝In the Songze era, jade evolved from simple decoration to jade ceremonial objects representing status and rank; 📝Before the Liangzhu civilization, they used jade to distinguish ranks, differentiate identities, display power, and created a series of jade ceremonial objects represented by cong, bi, and yue, and the ritual system behind them, ultimately forming a set of jade systems and social norms for different social strata. It can be said that the most important feature of the early civilization in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River is the jade civilization. The pioneering ceremonial jade system has had a profound impact on the development of Chinese civilization in later generations.
