I haven't been to Sanya for a long time, and the first stop I stayed at was Sanya y·HOTEL. This is a rustic and natural design boutique hotel, simple yet textured, fashionable and upscale. The architecture and interior design are by Xie Ke, whom I quite like, and this is his first project in Sanya. The hotel is nestled in the valley of Sanya Anaya, where Xie Ke has 'hidden' it under a garden. The off-white guest room buildings are concealed underground, with the rooftops of the rooms almost level with the ground of the Anaya residential area, ensuring that the surrounding landscape is unobstructed and creating a unique scenery of its own. The hotel features a wide range of psammophytic plant design, with 19 white melaleucas planted, bringing the mountains and nature directly into the hotel, forming natural framed landscapes. Xie Ke's expertise in light and shadow remains the protagonist of the space, with light and shadow moving and lingering with time, creating different beauties at different times, adding dynamism and rhythm to the space. As for the guest rooms, there are only 8 rooms, small in scale but with excellent hardware, including Dyson hair dryers, Geneva Bluetooth speakers, electric curtains, etc. The rooms start at 85 square meters, each with double-sided patios, double-sided lighting, and their own courtyards, making them quite spacious and comfortable. The room's MINI bar is free, and if you stay continuously, it will be replenished daily. In addition, each room also has a snack basket treat, which can be enjoyed in the restaurant or delivered to the room by the butler. The dining part is excellent. It is worth mentioning that the owners behind y·HOTEL are Yao Yang and Xiao Yang, the couple who founded the y family, which includes many y series, including restaurants opened in Beijing and Beidaihe. Yao Yang is a chef who has already made a name for himself in Beijing's culinary circles, specializing in Spanish cuisine. The y Kitchen restaurant at Sanya y·HOTEL mainly serves Spanish cuisine, with a chef team from Beijing. The signature Spanish seafood rice is generous in portion and surprisingly tasty, with the rice fully absorbing the essence of the broth and retaining the freshness of the seafood. Also, the low-temperature slow-roasted steak is very good, with the doneness well-controlled, making the steak tender and juicy. I also highly recommend a special pickled salad platter, a grand assembly of various fresh vegetables, many of which are grown in the hotel's rooftop garden, making it a perfect choice for those who prefer a healthy diet. Another y Cafe offers coffee, tea, various alcoholic beverages, afternoon tea, light meals, etc., and is a place where hotel guests are happy to spend and check in. At y Café, hotel guests also have a 'privilege' of enjoying a few designated types of coffee all day long, with unlimited refills. Sitting here leisurely, one can feel as comfortable as at home. Both y Kitchen and y Cafe are open to the public, so even non-hotel guests can come for meals or coffee. In a sense, this is an 'anti-Sanya' hotel, without the sea or the beach, just hidden in the valley, living alongside the mountain. Since its opening, it has maintained a room rate of 2000+ per night, which shows its market confidence and strength. In fact, this is indeed a great hotel, just as the hotel itself says, here, they hope that all guests can enjoy a vacation experience that feels more like a residence than a stay.
