Water Intake Tower

#okinawatrip This is the only facility that directs water from Kurashiki Dam downstream. It is called the water intake tower, and is designed to take in good quality dam water from a 16m gap between an elevation of 48.0m and the permanent full water level of 64.2m. The specific mechanism is that seven intake gates (each about 2.8m high, functions like a partition plate, and is made of rust-resistant metal) are installed vertically in series inside the tower, and only the range of the height at which water is to be taken is opened mechanically, and the dam water in that range is directed downstream.
