My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon at Secrets Moxche in early August 2026. We stayed for 11 nights, traveling from the UK and booking with TUI. Initially, we stayed in a standard junior suite but upgraded to a preferred swim-out room for the last three nights. Overall, we had an amazing experience and would love to return. · *Service:** The service was outstanding overall. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and well-trained, making an effort to remember guests and their preferences. Some standouts were Jorge (Bamboo), Nicolas (lobby or Bamboo evening bar), Jose (entertainment team), Eladio (Dos Almas), Miguel and Carlos (Lagoon pool), and Armando (check-in). Managers also regularly checked in to ensure we were satisfied, such as Roxana at Allora and Karine (we believe that’s her name). In the second week, some staff rotated, and drink service at the Lagoon pool slowed a little, with mixed consistency in drink preparation. Upon check-in, the staff asked if we were celebrating anything, and the following day, a "Just Married" banner was placed on our door, which was a lovely touch. The room was cleaned daily when we pressed the "make-up room" button. If set to privacy, they still checked in to see if we needed anything. We had turn-down service the first two nights, though it wasn’t provided afterward, which can easily be requested via the app. · *Food:** Reservations were easy to make and modify via the app. On our first night, we ordered room service, and the vegetarian menu (searchable in the app) was timely and tasty. The buffet breakfast was varied and of great quality. We tried all the restaurants except Seasoul lunch (closed for dinner along with Barefoot Grill during the day). We particularly enjoyed Allora, Dos Almas, Bamboo, and Suki. Bisou was our least favorite due to limited vegan options for my husband, and my beef en croute had a strange taste. The skirt steak at Ember was bland, so I avoided beef unless heavily seasoned. Portions were generous, sometimes too filling for dessert. Highlights included carts offering tacos and marquesitas, and Coco Café providing great snacks and drinks. Our favorite dishes: · *Dos Almas:** Birria tacos, agave azul cocktail · *Allora:** Aglio e olio and bolognese · *Bamboo:** Pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, croquettes, guacamole, vegan burger · *Suki:** Miso cheesecake, rock shrimp, brussels sprouts · *Observatory:** Scrambled tofu, quesabirria, banana pancakes, vegan burger We attended two enjoyable classes: the pizza-making class, which included drinks, appetizers, a pizza, and tiramisu, along with the cooking class near Seasoul where we learned about cochinita pibil and enjoyed fresh tacos with fruit appetizers. The Mexican Spirits class focusing on mezcal was informative but overpriced given its brief duration. · *Vegan Options:** The vegan options were decent, though varied across restaurants. Staff willingly adjusted dishes, like preparing Pad Thai without egg or creating off-menu items such as a vegan burrito at Dos Almas. Buffet breakfast was good, albeit lacking allergen labeling, which would help diners. Coco Café offered plant-based milks and mostly vegan carrot cake; additional variety would have been nice. The taco and marquesita carts lacked vegan options, and other events like Roads Through Mexico or Asado also offered little choice. Presentation and labeling could improve—for example, a bruschetta dish unsuspectedly came with cheese but was promptly remade without it. · *Pools:** All pools were great, but our favorite was the quiet Lagoon pool near Bamboo. The pools weren’t heated but warmed by the afternoon sun, lessening their refreshing quality. Sunbed availability was not an issue whether we came early morning or afternoon. Light snacks like ceviche, pizza, burritos, ice cream, churros, and croquettes were served around the pools in small portions during afternoons. · *Room:** The basic room was spacious and comfortable, though slightly damp on arrival until running the AC. We brought a moisture absorber, but it collected little water. The room easily cooled to 19°C, though we preferred it a bit higher. It was very clean aside from minor wear and tear, like a frayed blind, which didn’t bother us. The room featured a Nespresso machine with pods, bottled water, robes, slippers, plenty of towels, and a mini fridge stocked with beverages. Our balcony had a lovely soaking tub, though it’s unclear if all standard rooms include this. · *Preferred:** Our upgraded room had the same layout as the basic room but featured a swim-out pool. Additional amenities included snacks, wine glasses, and a beach bag, but not SPF or insect repellent. We weren’t informed about the spa’s hydrotherapy; maybe our stay in these facilities was too brief. Unfortunately, mosquitoes by the pool and room were problematic. We tried the pool once but wouldn’t book this type of room again, preferring the Lagoon pool. The rooftop pool was scenic, but we still favored the Lagoon. The Observatory served excellent breakfast and lunch, though we preferred Bamboo overall. · *Sargassum:** While the beach had minor shoreline sargassum, the murky, dark waters tilted us toward enjoying the Lagoon pool instead. We forgot about revisiting the beach after enjoying our time by the pool. · *Excursions:** Using inDrive, we easily ordered taxis to Playa del Carmen ($11 USD each way) for shopping and exploring, and Puerto Juarez ($44 USD each way) to catch the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Ferry tickets cost around $52 USD, but cheaper options were available. Playa Norte boasted crystal-clear waters. · *Miscellaneous:** The paths were a bit uneven but undergoing renovations during our stay. We noted mosquitoes were prevalent, and both of us suffered bites despite using DEET and citronella. It was odd that some closures, like Barefoot Grill and Seasoul, weren’t communicated during check-in, though it didn’t impact our stay. We enjoyed drinks and poolside relaxation at Dark Horse and excellent live music at Bamboo. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we appreciated the vegan options for my husband. There is room for improvement in enhancing vegan offerings, labeling, and minimizing cross-contamination risks. Above all, the staff made our experience exceptional.
