Taking a Train to Khun Tan Station

Khun Tan Railway Station, originally spelled Khun Tan, is located in Village 8, Ban Khun Tan, Tha Pla Duk Subdistrict, Mae Tha District, Lamphun Province. It is 683.140 kilometers from Bangkok Railway Station. This is a second-class station on the Northern Line, situated between Tha Chomphu and Mae Tan Noi stations, using semaphore signals. It is the highest railway station in Thailand at an elevation of 578 meters above sea level. The station and tunnel are surrounded by mountains on three sides, with the houses of the villagers in Ban Khun Tan scattered along the slopes. This makes it feel like a small town with cool weather year-round and occasional wafts of smoke from charcoal stoves. The tunnel entrance is built with red bricks and features a red Garuda emblem on a yellow background above the entrance. Near the tunnel entrance is the shrine of Chao Pho Khun Tan, with the shrine of Phaya Berk above it. On the left side of the tunnel, there is a small staircase leading to the Doi Khun Tan National Park office.
