ZOEY WARD

The temple and pagoda shine together

Upon arriving at the ancient town of Qian Deng, the first stop is the Yan Fu Zen Temple to worship Buddha. The ancient temple was originally built in the year 503 AD, with a grand scale, surrounded by incense, and the sound of bells and drums resonating, renowned throughout the world. It was later destroyed and reopened in 1997. Yan Fu Zen Temple currently has: the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Ksitigarbha Hall, the Jade Buddha Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the Deity Hall, the Avalokitesvara Hall, the Great Mercy Pavilion, the Earth God Temple, the Pagoda Courtyard, and the Zen Garden, among others. There is also the Qin Feng Pagoda, which is as old as the Yan Fu Zen Temple, made of brick and wood, and is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Inside the Jade Buddha Hall, there is a reclining Buddha statue of Sakyamuni made from a single 12-meter-long piece of Burmese jade, claimed to be the world's largest jade reclining Buddha.
