Senso-ji Temple's Eikando Hall is located to the northwest of the main hall. Eikando Hall was built in the 6th year of Heisei (1994 AD) to commemorate the 1200th anniversary of the birth of the great master Jikaku Daishi Ennin, who revitalized Senso-ji Temple. The so-called 'Eikando' refers to the divine and buddhas appearing at Senso-ji Temple in certain postures, continuously assisting the Bodhisattva Kannon in preaching. The active buddhas are called 'Eikando Assembly', and Eikando Hall enshrines the guardian deities of the eight forms (Eikando Assembly) for each year (zodiac sign). The hall is divided into an inner and outer area, with the central Sumeru Altar in the inner area enshrining the Holy Kannon Bodhisattva, flanked by the Thousand-Handed Kannon, Akasagarbha Bodhisattva, Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, Mahavairocana, Acalanatha, and Amitabha Buddha. Additionally, Eikando Hall also houses the Shuin office of Senso-ji Temple's main mountain, which, as a proof of pilgrimage, awards the red seals of the Holy Kannon Bodhisattva and Daikokuten.
