The Kim Tang Shrine

The Kim Tang Shrine is located in the fishing village of Moo 7, Ka Long Subdistrict, and has been around for over 100 years. Originally, it was a small shrine by the sea, but due to coastal erosion, it was moved inland and rebuilt as a Chinese-style concrete building. The Kim Tang Shrine offers a beautiful seaside view with a long bridge extending into the sea at Ban Ka Long. Visitors can come to pay respects and seek blessings from Kim Tang. The shrine houses several sacred figures, including the main deity Kim Tang, who in Chinese belief is considered the child of the Bodhisattva Guan Yin. Beside Kim Tang is a statue of Guan Yin. The name 'Tang' means boy, and 'Kim' means gold, so Kim Tang translates to 'Golden Boy'. Other deities in the shrine include Heng Jia, Guan Yu, the Tiger God, Cai Shen (God of Wealth), Tai Sui (God of the Stars), Ngak Ngu (Dragon King's Daughter), and Huk Chou Gong.
