Hualien Solo Trip: Transportation to Qixingtan

On my last trip to Hualien, I planned to take the 310 Taroko Line (Taiwan Tourist Shuttle) departing from the Hualien Transfer Station, but I couldn't get a seat because I hadn't booked in advance. I did manage to catch it from Xincheng Station once before. When visiting Hualien to see the mountains and the ocean, renting a car or scooter is the best choice if you're not driving yourself. I chose the 310 because it links the city, Qixingtan, and Taroko National Park. The "cruise-style" shuttle bus offers a "fixed-stop, same-bus connection" service, meaning you don't have to worry about catching your next ride after exploring a stop—you just hop back on the same bus. It’s a very relaxed way to see Hualien’s must-visit attractions. (1-day pass: NT$250; 2-day pass: NT$400) Additionally, the 308 Qixingtan Line (operated by Ubus) departs from the Hualien Transfer Station and passes through Dongdamen Night Market, Meilun, Fullon Hotel, and the Hualien Distillery, with its final stop at Qixingtan. The base fare for trips under 8km is NT$25 (full fare) or NT$12 (half fare), and you can pay with an EasyCard. Starting in February 2026, the new Civic Minibus Line 8 was launched. This micro-bus system, introduced by the Hualien County Government, uses 7-seater vehicles for better flexibility. Taking the "Xincheng Coastal Line" from Qixingtan to the Hualien Transfer Station is faster and costs NT$25 with an EasyCard. There are 24 daily trips; the first bus leaves Hualien Transfer Station at 8:20 AM and the last at 6:30 PM. From Xincheng Station, the first is at 9:10 AM and the last at 7:10 PM. The schedule is the same for both weekdays and weekends.
