#hkonbudget My visit felt like a very different experience compared to what the museum used to offer. With the classic "Hong Kong Story" permanent exhibition closed, the focus has shifted heavily toward themed exhibits, many of which deal with contemporary Chinese history and national security laws. While these newer exhibits are well-produced with modern digital displays, the content feels less focused on the traditional, unique local history of Hong Kong (such as the colonial era or the 1960s light industry boom) and more on a specific political narrative. If you are visiting to see the full, complex history leading up to 1997, you may be disappointed that those sections are unavailable. Approach with an open, critical mind.
