If you want to eat Sri Lankan curry in Hikkaduwa, this is the only choice. It is a little walk away from the beach. There are cows and dogs on the way, but keep walking without getting upset. The restaurant is family-run and seems to be mainly run by a grandmother. Since it is a restaurant in the forest, squirrels, baby mice, and birds come to play. It's like being in Disney world. On the way, she introduced me to her grandson and husband. The homey atmosphere is the best. The mixed fruit juice is the best. It may take a while for the curry to be served, but that's proof that it's delicious. Moreover, it's a relaxing atmosphere so it's no problem. The set includes red rice, papadum, prawn curry, water spinach and tomato, boonchi (green bean) curry, dal, and another type of something, and this is one serving. And it's only 1950 rupees. All the dishes are authentic and somewhat homely, filling both the stomach and the soul. The shrimps are plump and the vegetables have different textures, satisfying both the eyes and the tongue! It was so filling that I couldn't finish it all by myself. I have a separate stomach for sweets, so I ordered curd with fruit for dessert. It was a delicious dessert made with rich curd and sweet colorful fruits. It doesn't matter if you can't see the sea, this is the best restaurant I'll visit again anytime I come to Hikkaduwa. [Isira Coffee Shop & Restaurant] This restaurant is run by a kind old man, and the prices are more reasonable than other restaurants! I was looking for a restaurant like this. The Sri Lankan breakfast is 880 Sri Lankan rupees and is a hearty set of two slices of bread, idiyappam, daal and coconut sambol. You can choose between daal or potato curry. The bread is cold, but fluffy and delicious, and the idiyappam is fragrant and goes well with the curry. The coconut sambol here is spicy, but the dal is mild, so it was well balanced. I managed to finish it all by myself. I was really full! Milk tea 200 Sri Lankan rupees If you ask for sugar, you will be served a gentle sweet black tea with plenty of milk. The black tea is strong and very delicious! I had two cups. It seems to be a popular restaurant, because by the time I left, it was full. I recommend it. [Ocean Drop Hikkaduwa] A recommended restaurant with friendly staff and a great view. The staff are really kind. I was surprised that the cinnamon tea I ordered came in a pot, but they told me that the sea turtles were at Turtle Beach and suggested that I go. The restaurant is directly connected to the sea, so I went down the ladder to Turtle Beach and was able to see the turtles safely. Moreover, when a heavy rain shower came and we couldn't return to the restaurant, they came to pick us up with an umbrella to where we were sheltering from the rain😂 We were sitting at a table by the sea, and they moved all our luggage so that it wouldn't get wet, and they even lent us towels and paper towels. They even gave us hot tea again because it had gotten cold. We ordered fried shrimp with chips, which was quite filling. The shrimp was fried nicely. The price was reasonable, and when it's sunny, you can see the best view. This restaurant represents the kindness of the people of Sri Lanka. Please go and try it.
