Gangtou Village, an administrative village under the jurisdiction of Huadong Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is a traditional village in China. It is located in the northeast of Huadong Town, by the Liuxi River, with a village area of 2.83 square kilometers. Gangtou Village faces north and is surrounded by water on three sides: southeast, south, and west. It has the environmental characteristics of a traditional water town in the Pearl River Delta and was an important water and land transportation hub in ancient Huadu. The village features a typical Cantonese residential 'comb layout' and retains a large number of ancient buildings such as the Wen Sun Zeng Ancestral Hall, Yunmen Zeng Ancestral Hall, and Yunmen Villa. Throughout history, many people from Gangtou Village have passed the imperial examinations and become officials, earning the village the reputation of 'Five Generations of Successive Scholars'. The main architectural styles of Gangtou Village are from the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are more than 80 well-preserved ancient buildings, including 6 ancestral halls, study halls, and main halls. These buildings are mainly in the form of three-room three-entry or three-room two-entry with gable or wok ear firewalls, with gray plastic ridge decorations featuring ancient patterns. Most traditional residential buildings are three-room two-corridor style with hard gable roofs and dragon boat gray plastic ridges, making Gangtou Village a representative example of traditional villages in the Cantonese region.
