Basum Tso, One of Tibet's Five 5A Scenic Areas Before I made my Tibet travel plan, I had never heard of Basum Tso. When I looked it up online, I was surprised to find that it was a 5A scenic area. Most of the reviews I read were negative, saying it was average and not worth the ticket price. It wasn't until a friend told me that Basum Tso was actually very beautiful and that I should visit the villages deep in the scenic area, as they are the essence of Basum Tso. So, I arranged two nights' accommodation at Basum Tso to explore its beauty. 1. 95% of the hotels are concentrated in Jeba Village, and I strongly recommend staying here. The best hotel is Songtsam, with first-class views and facilities. 2. You can spend a whole day visiting Xincuo. The road from Jeba Village to Xincuo is an unpaved dirt road, but it's easy to drive on. Drive to the end of the road, where there is a parking lot, and then walk 3 km to Xincuo Lake. Along the way, you will see streams, pastures, villages, snow-capped mountains, forests, glaciers, and other beautiful scenery. You won't even feel tired when you reach Xincuo. Xincuo is a small lake formed by glacial meltwater, where you can see the glacier behind it. You need to fly a drone 6–7 km to get a close-up shot of the glacier, so be sure to keep an eye on the drone's battery. 3. The road from Jeba Village to Zhala Village is much better
