Hindu Sacred Splendor 🪷

The Prambanan Temple complex is a breathtaking testament to ancient Javanese architecture and Hindu culture. Located about 45 minutes drive from Yogyakarta city, I hired a private driver to bring me to Candi Prambanan. When you first enter, there is a small exhibition showing photos of how the temple was like when it was first discovered in the early 1900s. It looks nothing like it is today! Apparently, it took many rounds of restoration to find the right pieces and put them back together to “rebuild” many of the structures. How painstaking it must be to have to find the right pieces over such a large area, like a giant LEGO! The main temple, is of course the main highlight of my visit. Dedicated to the Trimurti (the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva), we even got to witness a prayer ritual in progress. The guide shared that this was only re-allowed this year, so I guess we were fortunate to have seen it! We visited Prambanan Temple during Ramadan, so the crowds were little as there were little to no domestic tourists. I would highly recommend coming here during this period for anyone considering to visit Jogja! #WinHKFlight #winhkflight To me, Hong Kong is a city that has so much to offer - culture, outdoors, nightlife, food and history! I want to travel to Hong Kong to visit Lamma Island, Happy Valley during a horse racing night, eat Yat Lok roast goose and...so much more!
