Wenguang Tower on Zhentou Ridge is located on Zhentou Ridge, No. 109 Wenbi Road, Panzhou Street, Gaozhou City, Maoming City, Guangdong Province. It is commonly known as Wenbi Tower. In the 21st year of the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1816), Zhaoyuanfu, a scholar from Maoming County, advocated the construction of the tower to promote the literary style of the county. The tower faces southeast and northwest, with an octagonal plane, a total height of 30.6 meters, and seven floors. The tower is hollow, without partitions, and cannot be climbed, which is rare among ancient towers in Guangdong. The tower body is built with blue bricks, with diamond-shaped bricks and eaves bricks stacked to form eaves, without flat seats. The top of the tower is octagonal and pointed, with a tower brake resembling a pen tip. Each floor has four arched doors, two of which are opposite each other. On the lintel of the main door on the second floor, there are three gray sculptures of the words "Wenguang Tower". The entire tower has an outer wall that is gradually reduced from bottom to top, with the tower cavity unchanged, and the proportions are coordinated. To the south of Wenguang Tower, there are Bijia Mountain and Guabang Ridge, forming the wonder of "Bijia Green Peak", which coincides with the meaning of the creation of Wenguang Tower. It not only reflects the social trend of valuing education and promoting learning in Gaozhou during the Qing Dynasty, but also reflects the political and economic situation at that time.
