Wanlu Lake

Wanlu Lake Scenic Area is located in Dongyuan County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. The Xinfengjiang Reservoir, where it is located, is regarded as the "water of life" for Hong Kong people and is the water source for Hong Kong and Shenzhen. It is also a national 5A-level scenic spot, named for its "evergreen seasons and everywhere is green," and is famous for its "magnificent waters, pure water quality, tranquil water, and beautiful water color." It is known as the "back garden" of the Pearl River Delta and has the reputation of "heavenly Yaochi water, earthly Wanlu Lake." We were fortunate to set foot on this land favored by both nature and culture and embarked on a dreamlike journey of mirror flowers and water moons. Upon arriving at the shore of Wanlu Lake, the first thing that caught our eyes was the ancient and elegant Hakka Style Museum. It seemed like a kind old man, quietly telling the thousand-year-old stories of this land. Stepping into the museum, a strong Hakka cultural atmosphere greeted us. Whether it was the exquisite wood-carved window flowers or the well-arranged Hakka walled house models, they all made us slow down and savor them carefully. Leaving the Hakka Style Museum, we took a boat to Shuiyue Bay, Longfeng Island, and Jinghuayuan. Boating on the lake, we were deeply shocked by the stunning scenery of the vast blue waves and the surrounding mountains. As the boat slowly sailed in, the scenery in front of us gradually became dreamlike, and the lake surface shimmered as if every ray of light was telling an ancient and beautiful story. Longfeng Island is the largest island on Wanlu Lake, named for its resemblance to a dragon and phoenix embracing each other. It is a perfect blend of nature and mythology and has been a sacred place in the hearts of locals since ancient times. Walking along the winding path, we saw lush vegetation and crystal-clear streams along the way, and occasionally a few leisurely small animals scurrying through the forest. Standing at the highest point of the island, overlooking the entire Wanlu Lake, we saw the rippling blue waves and the mountains like ink, and an indescribable sense of pride and awe surged in our hearts. At dusk, we arrived at the legendary Jinghuayuan. This is the inspiration source for the classical masterpiece "Jinghuayuan" and the most mysterious corner of Wanlu Lake. Stepping onto the small island, it felt like entering a paradise isolated from the world. Surrounded by lush trees, underfoot was a path of small stones, and the air was filled with a faint floral fragrance. Strolling among the mirror flowers and water moons, we couldn't help but be intoxicated by this tranquility and beauty, as if we had become the fairy in the book wandering among the flowers, experiencing the transcendental freedom and ease.
