A Stunning Paradise with Exceptional Service, but Room for Improvement in Transfer Communication

We are a couple who stayed for nine nights starting August 10. Soneva Secret, chosen as our eighth Maldives destination, was an unbelievably beautiful island. Having visited numerous luxury resorts, we can confidently say that Soneva Secret stands out as the most stunning and nature-centric resort, offering the best experience of Maldives' unique seas and expansive beaches. The staff provided deeply considerate service, and the quality and freshness of ingredients used in the cuisine—vegetables, seafood, meat, and fruits—were excellent. Remarkably, the tom yum soup at Soneva Secret will forever be remembered by us as the best we've ever had. While all the staff were outstanding, we especially want to express our gratitude to our butler, Leoni. Her exceptional intuition and thoughtful care ensured we had a comfortable stay over the ten days, making her the best butler we've ever encountered. Additionally, "Shafraaz" from the F&B team made our dining experiences pleasurable, taking note of our preferences and offering coffee and water without needing reminders. His thoughtful gestures, like arranging lunch under the shade of palm trees without being asked, left us deeply touched. We also enjoyed a drone photography excursion, and we cannot thank "Moosa" enough for helping us create lifelong memories. His expertise resulted in amazing quality videos and photos, and the music accompanying the videos has become a favorite piece for us as a couple. Although it was a bit pricey, we also tried a private guided snorkeling experience. Our guide, "Imthi," was incredibly kind and thoughtful, even using the GoPro my husband brought to shoot videos so my husband could focus on snorkeling. While we encountered some unexpected situations during our stay, the general manager, "Akira," tried their utmost to address our concerns and made efforts for immediate improvements based on our feedback. We are surely planning to visit Soneva Secret again in the future. That said, we hope to highlight one issue that should be addressed to avoid causing inconvenience for other guests. We had a 1:05 PM Singapore Airlines flight from Male, but due to weather issues and refueling at Soneva Jani, our flight departed only at 11:30 AM (Male time: 10:30 AM). The pilot then mentioned stopping at Soneva Jani, which contradicted the understanding of our butler, who believed we'd head straight to Male due to time constraints. Both the pilot and the butler showed visible signs of confusion. Without clear explanations provided to us, the departure was rushed, and after stopping at Soneva Jani, we only arrived at Male around 12:10 PM. With time running out, we had to endure an intense rush by car to barely catch our Singapore Airlines flight. Although we understand Soneva Secret’s remote location necessitating intermediate stops, the lack of clear communication among staff leading to such a stressful situation was unsettling for us. This transport issue significantly impacted the experience and needs improvement. If resolved, we'd gladly visit more frequently. Finally, we want to thank all the wonderful staff for helping create unforgettable memories on this beautiful island.
