Puxian Temple

Puxian Temple, also known as Dali Puxian Temple, is located in the northeast corner of Dali Ancient City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, on the north side of the lower section of Yuer Road. Originally built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Puxian Temple was rebuilt in the 18th year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign in the Qing Dynasty and renovated in the 4th year of the Xianfeng Emperor's reign in the Qing Dynasty. The temple faces east and originally included a gatehouse, south and north side rooms, the main hall, and two square stone pagodas in the courtyard. Currently, only the main hall and the north side rooms remain. The main hall features a single-eave hip-and-gable roof and a beam-lifting stone and wood structure. The three-tiered "meter"-shaped brackets at the eaves, the exquisitely carved beams and brackets, and the elegant interior and exterior painted decorations showcase high-quality architectural craftsmanship. As an existing Buddhist temple within Dali Ancient City, Puxian Temple stands as an important testament to Dali's status as a historical and cultural city.
